Time For The Nokia Pad

So we have the Apple and Samsung stables feeding us tablets at a steady pace. And its sad to see one company that ruled the roost, i.e. Nokia, get derailed off the tracks. So if we let our imagination run wild (or rather Jupeng Zhai’s) then this is how the next-gen Nokia Lumia Pad will look like. Not many concepts dedicated to Nokia these days, however this is one of those good ones.

Designer: Jupeng Zhai

“Time For The Nokia Pad” not needed pod, too many pods on the market already! And too many pictures,
the Yanko Design presentation doesn’t need so many almost identical pictures!

I have to say as a designer and from the design point of view. I’ve notice this from many young designers/design students mostly with concepts of electronics and phones. But creating a concept with changing minor details of a existing design, in this case scaling up the a Nokia Lumia does not show much creatively. If schools are teaching this these days, it’s a good exercise but doesn’t show much of what an industrial designer can do.

    Yeah..so true

Unfortunately, this is what is (mostly) made in the portable devices segment nowadays.

I really like the design and the idea that this is a recicled design of actual Lumia phones doesn’t bother me at all because that design is awesome. I would be nice to have an i5 inside. 🙂
