It’s a Purifier, Kettle and More!

Wells Smart Mini is a water purifier that can pour out chilled drinking water and double up as an electric kettle. The idea is that spaces are reducing and family sizes are shrinking. So to keep pace with current trends of multi-functionality we have a one-stop solution for purified water that can be available chilled and for hot beverages using the kettle. The iPod docking station on top kinda takes the spunk out of the huge dispensers in sterile offices. Me really likes this!

    I see iphones taking a shower in this one. The dock idea seems tacked on. It could benefit from better integration of the speaker and maybe uncover the steaming spout of the kettle. Not to mention the steamy placement of the device. That can’t be good for the warranty-voiding moisture indicators.

    @Nathan: The iPhone dock probably means it’s app controlled. And I think it’s easily out of the way so that you don’t have to worry. Steam won’t hurt it as much as dunking it in a pool anyway.

  • Nathan says:

    @Jimmy: Steam is water vapour.
    Summary: Relative air humidity in Indonesia caused phone charger to stop functioning and voided phone warranty.
    Argument: Indonesian air is less humid than steam (100%+ humidity), thus steam will cause similar or greater damage.
    Conclusion: iPhone + Steam = Bad idea.

    FYI, apple updated their procedure for excepting phones under warranty even if sensor shows moisture damage. This is due to the fact that it was being triggered in humid climates.

    The question remains: are you willing to risk your iPhone getting broken, and having to send it over to Apple for warranty? I guess not.
