Little Improvements Go a Long Way

The Pick UP marker is a prime example of how sometimes the smallest change can improve a product’s functionality and overall user-friendliness. Instead of lying flat against the whiteboard, the magnetic marker cap is slanted to position the body of the pen at an angle that’s easier to grab. The triangular shape also enhances ergonomics and prevents it from rolling should the marker fall.

    Ever heard of gravity?

  • Mr. B says:

ever heard of magnetism and center of weight ?

  • deso says:

If the magnetism is too high then the cap will stay where it is and you will hold the rest of it every time you try to take it.

Good rendering and presentation by the way !

  • Quintin says:

One of those ‘I can’t believe nobody thought of that before’-ideas…

  • Jun says:

already sold in Japan( but its styling is inelegant)…

  • Victor says:

I think its good idea… BUT!! not that smart… you have to consider the gravity… inside the marker the ink will flow to the opposite side of the marker tip… so in less than 2 days your markers will get dry… because of the lack of ink in the tip…

  • Rawwhale says:

Oh wow, Victor is right, you need to put the magnetic angle on the other end of marker. That would keep the tip soaked and solve Deso’s cap issue.

  • Won'tWork says:

… Or you could just position this exact concept upside-down on your white board and then the ink won’t flow away from the tip? You people are so thick sometimes.

This is one of the VERY few concepts on here that is actually good.

  • Rawwhale says:

It’s own weight would pull it down and it would pivot back into the original position. Whiteboard and plastic are both slick surfaces. Who’s thick?

Pick UP marker is a copycat?

  • Rawwhale says:

Probably a rip-off but doesn’t really matter at the end of the day…. I haven’t seen a whiteboard in at least 6 years and I’m still in school. Projectors are much cheaper, portable and wayyyyy better. Clearly a serious lack of vision here.

  • Carolina Zhang says:

Great renderings! I have to say, I have never really had any problems picking up a marker. This design feels frivolous.

  • Won'tWork says:

    How weak are your magnets?

  • GL says:

You have to pick it up and take off the cap anyways. No different from usual. I imagine having to place it back on the whiteboard very slowly (and softly) for it to hang on.

    Good gift though.
