Coiled Up In The Dryer

The hair dryer is a fine instrument and does its job well but its design has stagnated. What designers usually tackle is the form of the dryer and forget the hanging wire and its storage. Dryerhair is a blow-dryer that features an elongated backend….kinda like an extra housing space to coil in the wire. Although the form is pretty rigid, it’s a good design that makes it compact when storing in a cupboard or a drawer. People may question the heat of the blower affecting the tailending wire, but I doubt that’s much of a concern.

  • good idea ! that's true that the main problem of most of the electric device is .. the wire !
So nice it's nice to play with it 😉

Nice idea. It was originaly done by GE about 20 years ago. The GE version had a push button with an automatic cord return. There was both a large version with a round scroll that the cord went into, wiht a barrel and a handle, and there was a small tube version, like this design with the cord in the rear. Both were nice designs. There was a recent new design by some other company, so I guess the old GE patents are gone.

  • that sounds good idea !

  • Im just curious..
Its strange how the model isnt using the handle to grip the machine itself, not intuitive enough or bad ergonomics?
Also where it is being held is usually where the heating coil is present which makes the outer body hot enough not to hold.

I think u better study how does a hair dryer work.

Cool. Don't worry, at the intake of the hairdryer, it won't be very hot. People have to fully pull out the cable to clogging up the intake though. That said, any dryer today is equipped wih a thermostat, so it will just switch off when too hot.
And about ergonomics: A big problem for people drying hair for eight hours per day. For all the rest: look at what bricks we phone with. Ergonomics are not always what they seem….
