Fruit Playground

Have you ever noticed how fruit seems to go bad faster in a bowl? It’s true! Some uber-chemical process with gases occurs just from the fruit touching each other. The Portafrutta remedies thats problem by using 35 individually laser cut pieces of wood to form peaks and valleys. The design strategically spreads fruit out without too much contact between them. Even without fruit there’s a nice sculptural quality to it.

very nice form, very elegant. however i am having a hard time imagining fruits in there? how strategic is this design really?

Yeah, I agree, it would be good to see a few bananas and apples there. I like the looks of it, though.

I love this website (yanko design) but day after day, it’s so dissapointing not knowing where to find all the cool stuff. Luckily, I found something on here that I actually know where it can be purchased. So here’s the website. I’m not entirely sure it’s the EXACT thing as above.. but definitely the same concept… if not cooler.
