New Kinda Traffic Lights

Urban weather conditions have rapidly deteriorated over the years and I experience this firsthand in my smog-ridden city. One of the side effects is decreased road visibility for motorists and increased incidents of pedestrian accidents. Designers have been working on developing fabrics and materials that increase visibility of cyclists, however the pedestrian segment has been largely ignored. Here is a special kind of fabric with LED lights interwoven into the textile, and can be worn by anyone.

Wrangler Asks You to Let Go

That jeans company you and I love the most, Wrangler, is about to do something rather unorthodox. They’re going to ask you to Stop Thinking. I don’t just mean turn into a goofball, no, rather let go of your mapped-out world and allow your mind and body to take part in a wild journey into the unknown. It’s a challenge. Four people from the public, in the UK specifically, are going to be asked to drop everything (except their passport) and rock with Wrangler into the outer limits.

Does Spotted Towel Mean Measles?

Oftentimes we don’t realize that a towel is soiled, especially the dark colored ones. Although designer Sang-hoon Lee uses a white towel to get his point across, I can picture this being used effectively on darker shades. Expression Dot is a concept where your towel starts sporting red dots (measles?) once it gets really soiled. It does the routine of starting from pale red to blood-red, but I’m sure you don’t want to wait till it gets that dirty.

Big Eye Needle

Where was this invention when I was in Fashion Design school? Big Eye Needle is an ordinary loop-eye sewing needle except it’s made of some new fangled metal. With a bit of pressure, the tiny loop-eye expands to the size of a button hole making threading a cinch – literally. Gone are the days of far sighted clumsy hands and sore thumbs. Damn thread never seems to want to go in without a fight. I need the Big Eye Needle now. Appropriately, I rate this a DO WANT!

Jacket Pillows, With Heads?

Jacket Pillows, With Heads?

Designer Ximena Orozco had an old wool jacket she hadn’t worn in years. Instead of throwing it away she thought, why not make a pillow out of it? She’s created a whole line of them, each with a story printed on a label inside. Some are childhood attachments, some were gifts from an ex. We love this idea. What a great way to reuse something you don’t wear but too attached to throw away.
