Puzzled About Your Keyboard?

Puzzled About Your Keyboard?

Here is a question for you; do you really need all the keys on this keyboard? This is especially true when we use software that incorporates special function keys that are far from the most commonly used ones. Hence thoughts like why can’t I shift my F1 key closer to my space key or, why can’t I arrange my keyboard to suit how I use it are very legit. The answer to these questions is the Puzzle Keyboard.

The Hybrid Laptop

The Hybrid Laptop

This is the age of being multifunctional, hence a concept like the Paysage Laptop sound pretty acceptable. Here is a 14.1-inch laptop that features an inductive stand for the home. It looks super sexy in its brushed aluminum unibody design. A soft rubber hinge reinforced with a piece of metal inside gives it a maximum opening of 180°.

Best Keyboard Ever

Best Keyboard Ever

This E-inkey Keyboard Concept is pretty awesome if you ask me. Imagine using e-ink screens as keyboard buttons that allow us to use different layouts and customize keys as per our needs or program we are using at that moment! The use of E-ink technology gives it the power saving edge as well as the option of being wireless. Simply love it, what about you?

Steaming Up Foul Language

Steaming Up Foul Language

It’s almost impossible to monitor the kind of abusive and foul language kids use in online chatrooms these days. So when the analogy of difference in temperatures steaming up a window was explored, designers Kim Hyerim, Chang Hanearl & Kim Junhoe came up with the Steamy Window application. The system basically auto-detects abusive and foul language used during chats and steams up the user’s display window.

Saving The Eyesight

Saving The Eyesight

Children are stubborn and they don’t understand that viewing the computer (or TV) screen from too near a distance can affect their eyesight. As a victim of wearing glasses right from the eight grade, I have learnt this the hard way too. So designers Zhichao Xue & Chen Yizi have a very clever solution at hand. Place the I-CARE sensor on top of any screen and it keeps a check on the distance from which a person is viewing the screen.

How Big Is Your Printer?

How Big Is Your Printer?

God forbid if you are the unlucky bloke who gets to sit on a table that houses the office printer. They are a blessing and a bane, simply because they occupy so much of space. Maybe this is why concepts like the Retractable Printer are much more appealing. Imagine a sleek device that spans out according to the size of paper you are printing. Simple thought for a practical way of working in an office! Super!

The Circle Printer

The Circle Printer

One of the most annoying computer peripheral on anyone’s desk is the printer. It’s noisy, it vibrates and it takes up so much space! Which is why I’m all for innovations that look at minimizing size without losing functionality. ‘Circle’ is one such attempt that has impressed me. One look and you won’t even realize that it’s a printer, looks more like humidifier or a fancy pot. Wish that manufacturers would look in this direction too; HP are you listening?

I'm Yo-Yo Over This!

I’m Yo-Yo Over This!

It’s not the first time you heard us warn you about the repercussions of sitting on the computer for too long. Stiff back, sore wrists, numb legs….the list is endless! Looks to me that we all need a YoYo Mouse! This cute concept forces you to get up and do some Yo-Yo tricks to re-energize it because the battery drains out fast! Works best for me be, given that my wireless mouse runs out of battery ever so often!

Free Up Your Desk

Free Up Your Desk

All said and done, printers are a nuisance on the desk! They take up too much space and hold elegance to ransom with their unruly wires. The ‘I’m Hanging Printer’ is the proposed solution by designer Marc JuHyun Cha. In his words, “this looks like an art object when it hangs on the wall. It doesn’t look like some ugly machine. It makes your work place more organized.” I rest my case.
