You’ve got an app for everything. Literally everything (check out this Hodor keyboard app if you don’t believe me). Nothing is as interesting, however, as the app that controls this bad boy right here… The Free Climbing is a shape-shifting wall for rock climbers. Made up of a matrix of boulder units that can move forwards, backwards and even rotate, the Free Climbing wall truly allows you to customize the climbing experience so that it’s different and challenging every time. It comes with the app that allows you to modify the layout to make it easier or tougher. Just don’t tinker with the settings while someone’s actually rock climbing!

The Free Climbing wall won the iF Student Design Award in 2016.

Sarang Sheth

Sarang is the co-editor in chief of Yanko Design. He is a former industrial designer at a Bangalore-based multidisciplinary design studio, working in areas including appliances, FMCG, packaging, technology, luxury, etc. Sarang has written about design and technology for over a decade and has been a jury member on international design awards.
