Ultimate Disposal Of Gloves

Just rip them! Reuse of surgical cloves is strictly prohibited and yet we see many indulge in this malpractice. The only way to ensure that the gloves don’t get reused is to tear them. The Safe Cut Surgical Glove’s design has a provision to tear them from the palm-side. A tab cuts through the latex when the gloves are removed. This will prevent both unintentional and intentional reuse of the gloves.

Safe Cut Surgical Glove is a 2012 red dot award: design concept winner.

    Unique concept and very practical.

Interesting idea. One of the things I feel this design doesn’t address is the need to keep the hands clean of the offending material while removing them. The currently used method of removing gloves (by turning them inside out during removal) by its very nature keeps the hazardous material contained, and therefore ensures the protection of the wearer. I can’t envision removing these and keeping my hands clean of the hazardous materials clinging to the outside of the gloves.

And this would not stop intentional re-use. There’s nothing keeping a wearing from not using the tab.
