Designer Sherwood Forlee (love the name) has a sense a humor for stating the obvious. A speaker is a device that converts electrical energy into sound waves. It’s also someone who expresses in language. So if you combine those two definitions together to form some sort of iconic gesture to retain both aspects, you get the Speak-er. As Sherwood puts it, putting the “speak” in speakers.

Haha, how cool! I like it a lot, but i think it might be even cooler with white fabric and something printed on! And maybe a stand, so that the speech bubble is straight horizontal?
Think i d still buy it as it is though.
haha, very clever. I like it a lot.
I’d love to see it black (like pen ink in a comic) with a white face. The shape is spot-on, but I think a color switch might bring it out a little more.
text might be cool, but I like the idea of the music being what the bubble “says.”
Hmm..Interesting but if it is 2.1, where is the subwover ?
What a witty design! And according to the idea, the subwoofer should be called grumbler 🙂
Hahaha….Burps… Oppss…
I’ts like Sonicum assumed from other side.
i like these a lot very clever!
if they sound as good as they look they will be a huge hit — great find!
One of the coolest speakers designs I’ve ever saw !
I guess I am a odd duck, I by speakers for their sound not their appearance.
Wow, I want one!
there are a lot of “conversation starter” as said Starck about Jucy Salif…
i saw concept of plates like this by 2 differents designers…
it’s more gadget than real design
