Beat this toy Brad and Angelina! French Luxury Brand Hermés teamed up with Eurocopter to introduce the “L’helicoptre par Hermès”, the most tricked-out, super-stylish way to fly since the Spruce Goose (look it up). This unprecedented collaboration started as just a design exercise. Italian designer Gabriele Pezzini was brought in to work with Eurocopter engineers and Hermès craftsmen to create the final design.

Not a lot of fashion pieces manage to catch our eyes here at Yanko Design. There are of course the few exceptions like the Geek Chic Keyboard Jeans, and the Kevlar Hoodie, but this piece by Sartoria Vico called “Sciarpone” makes a slightly more palatable fashion statement. This clever convertible sweater/scarf design made of 100% Merino wool is perfect for the ever changing moods of my girlfriend and unpredictable spring time weather here in Los Angeles.

The EIN/TRITT shoe concepts shows how modern technology can take shoe manufacturing to the next paradigm. Flat shoe patterns with reinforced parts get folded and fixed by the consumer. Production and shipping costs are significantly reduced. From an aesthetic point of view, it has a very geometric and architectural form that’ll definitely grab you some attention. I wonder what Nike or Adidas could do with this technology.

Everything old is new again, especially when it comes to these very retro inspired sunglasses. Where normally tinted UV blocking lenses would cut the glare of the sun, these “Reed Screen Sunglasses” by Sang Jang Lee use the ancient eastern practice of reed screens to block the sun’s blinding glare. In case you are in the dark about reed screens, they are those roll up window blinds made of peeled reed stems.

According to many European Pediatricians, it is safest and best for the baby to be carried in a horizontal position. The new CYBEX iGO was designed for exactly that purpose. The CYBEX iGO baby carrier holds the baby snug and secure while lying down close to the mother’s body. After the baby is a year old, the iGO allows for vertical carrying of the baby- facing forward or facing towards the caregiver.

Coming from a fashion design background, I find it surprising 70% of people don’t read the care labels and when they do, it’s usually too late. That’s why something like the clothTag concept might make caring for clothes a lot easier.

Prescription lenses are expensive so it’s not often we can afford more than a single pair. Unfortunately that means being tethered to one frame style. Switch Glasses gives you at least two options to fit your mood and lifestyle. The design adds pivots and hinges to the arms and lens of a pair of glasses. By flipping them around, you can take advantage of two different frame colors. Maybe one for work and a funkier one for a night out.
