An Hourglass Worth Of Light

I still sleep with a nightlight, if you consider the soft pulsing glow of my Mac’s power button a light but since we’re supposed to be living in a era of “green”, we need to find a nightlight that only works while we’re awake. Let’s face, it doesn’t do a thing for us while we’re fast asleep. I’m sure there are timed nightlights out there but how about something with a little more decorum?

This hourglass nighlight by Sun Young Lee some how magically stays lit only when there’s a stream of sand running across it. I’m sure it’s all scientific, having to do with completing circuits but for the sake of fanatacism, I will say the sand is actually faery dust and that light - a firefly.
