The Power of Three

R Battery has three slots to hold AA and AAA batteries that are past their prime and into the graveyard. Near-dead batteries do have some charge in them and the good ole’ R here uses their juice to spike up as one big cell. I’m not sure of the dimensions of this new big battery, but I see where this project is going and with a few revisions, I’m sure it will be a winner.

  • It is small enough to be a D-cell (34.2mm diameter)and if you limited to AAAs then you could make a C-cell (26.2mm diameter)

It would be quite annoying to change the batteries in that thing all the time.

Something tells me Wang Shuo is not a physicist, because I am, and I know that this wouldn't work.

If this device is meant to use the residual charge left in an AA or AAA cell you're going to have a job powering ANYTHING. And an LED display is just going to reduce the charge even further. Who would buy one of these when it wouldn't be able to work.

Even if by some miracle it did work it would be expensive, and useless unless you regularly used devices that took both AA and D cells- in the age of Li-ion batteries it seems pointless.

A poorly thought out, unfeasible idea.

But who cares right, it looks pretty.

its just a concept dude. no need to go all “Look at me, Im a physicist” on us.

A-men boo! Heck, I've got 3 or 4 AA's around here somewhere that don't charge, and I don't know whether the charger went dead, or the bat's went totally dead. I keep saving the thing in a drawer somewhere with that long cord. Can't make myself throw it away. Bet if I invest in a few more rechargable bat's then it will not matter whether the recharge thingy works or not.. Damn, I shouldn't have canned the old bat's. I bet they were as good as new, and I know for a fact that I only recharged them 10 or 15 times. Well, second thought I better wait until one of these "thingy"s" go on sell at Walmart's.
