I may have gotten my wording confused, but it was for a reason. We have all witnessed the excitement of seeing some pretty amazing feats on surfboards, snowboards, race bikes and the like. The thrill of watching at a safe distance, allows the spectator to enjoy the action, but unfortunately the actual Rush from being in the moment is many times kept at arm’s reach. Now we can have a Rush like no other.

Living in Los Angeles for years now, I have learned to truly appreciate the ingenuity of Mexican culture. Though I realize not all Mexicans fit into a common mold (other than being a Mexican) a great deal seem to posses McGyver like abilities to fix almost any mechanical object or invent a low cost way to solve a problem. Which brings me to this truly genius and humanitarian way to rid your lawn or outdoor space of pesky flies.

The very first Gold Medalist for the upcoming Olympic games has just been announced and designer Soyun’s ‘Olympic Torch for Mumbai, India.’ torch concept is at the top of the heap. This concept was unique in the way it incorporated each participating countries flags in a mosaic of colors that when complete, represents the unity and spirit of the Olympic games. Inspired by host country India’s textures and culture, this winning design clearly possesses the winning edge.

This reminds me of one of those LED blinking clocks that magically suspend time in mid air when really it’s the speed of the oscillating arm creating the illusion. Apply that same process to a jump rope and you’ve got Jumplay. Every jump and skip is recorded. This can both be a good and bad thing since I have no jump rope skills. The counter would literally stall at 10 because that’s all I can do.

Inspired by Korean smoke alarm towers called Bongsudae, this trash bin retains the graceful organic shape of the former. The pattern even has an Asian aesthetic without being too traditional. My only gripe is the narrowing of the top. Makes it easy for things to come in, but a chore to get out.

Food consumption and transportation can be very uncomfortable during a journey. “Boxcooler” a backpack fridge with picnic dishes, revalues the cooler and raises it to a modern standard.

The Nyamuk is a compact sleeping bag that goes from full tent to hammock complete with mosquito net. Made from super light polyester, the entire structure is supported by one pole so easy assembly is the name of the game. Tho it looks fun, this isn’t for the hardcore man vs. wild trip. This is for those relaxing summer afternoons in you yard. Just please keep your clothes on.

When being in a shadow we feel safe and are able to wander to other realities even without efforts of our fantasy. Such was the initial motto of the designer when they started creating the Ensombra. For the umbrella, inspired by the Far East, traditional fan principle was chosen: narrow segments, attached to a retaining bar, easily move around the central pivot, and thereby everyone can spread the umbrella according to his or her wishes.

Snow is fun but it ain’t no joke. If you suddenly take injury or fall ill, it becomes a nightmare obstacle for both you and rescuers. The Firun is an inflatable rescue carriage light enough to wear as a backpack. Using an inflated solution provides cushioning and makes it a lot easier to drag. I know it’s kind of tasteless to say this but I imagine a pack of dogs pulling me, MUSH!
