Beyerdynamic launches their first TWS Earbuds with ANC, Transparency Mode, and 11 hours of listening time

Labeled the Free BYRD, beyerdynamic’s foray into TWS earbuds sets your ears free, allowing you to go about your day while listening to music, podcasts, and even the world around you, thanks to a Transparency Mode feature.

The German audio company announced the Free BYRD today, priced at $249 and available in black and white. The earbuds are relatively compact, come with a silicon tip that gives them a decent seal, and a black strip running along the outside that sort of makes the Free BYRD look like a distant relative of the Pixel 6 smartphone.

While on the higher side, price-wise, Free BYRD is designed for audiophiles who want their tech to be a great blend between compact yet capable. The Free BYRD’s earpieces sport 10mm audio drivers that deliver crisp, balanced sound to your ear, and also dual mics with Qualcomm cVc™ for crystal clear audio. For the price, you also get ANC along with Transparency mode, so you can either cancel environmental noise for clear listening or have audio from the real world play right back in your ear so you’re aware of your surroundings.

In true TWS style, the Free BYRD is certified by Google and Apple, and has support for Google, Alexa, and Siri. The earbuds have Bluetooth 5.2 and thanks to Google Fast Pair, will instantly connect to your device seamlessly. Gamers will also appreciate the Free BYRD’s Low Latency mode that ensures a perfect sync between audio and video, and for true audiophiles, beyerdynamic’s MIY app allows you to personalize your hearing and fine-tune your earbuds’ output.

The earphones, as mentioned earlier, come in a choice between black and white. They sport an impressive battery life of 11 hours, which bumps up to 30 hours with the charging case. Putting the earbuds in the case for just 10 minutes gives you up to 70 minutes of listening time, and the charging case is Qi-enabled, allowing you to wirelessly charge it off a charging pad or even reverse-charge it off the back of your phone. The Free BYRD is designed to be IPx4 water-resistant, making it just about fine to use in rainy weather… or better still while working up a sweat while exercising. For the active folk, the Free BYRD also offer 8 different silicone ear-tips to choose from, ensuring you get the most bespoke, perfect fit to seal the sound in and prevent the earbuds from accidentally falling off.
