I know how enthusiastic most of our readers are about cooking, so this round-up should have been my top priority. Better late than never, they say. So here’s a list of Ten Innovative and Creative Kitchen Concepts seen on YD. Some may beg to differ, but that’s ok, we are all allowed to have our opinions. Point is, we all love to cook in a classy, futuristic kitchen!

Are those plates to be eating off of? Nay!* They are vent covers. Retractable vent covers. Customizable vent covers. I bet you’re saying to yourself “self, I’ve always wanted to customize my vent covers, and self, this is my big opportunity.” And you’d be right. Available in like 5 billion colors and designs, this is the Ventware system.

Coral is this elegant pan that you can use for cooking and serving, but unlike the rest of the gang, this one comes coated with thermochromic spots. The pale blue dots turn into bright orange beauties, as the temperature of the pot increases. The handles on the pan comes off easily, thanks to the plug-spring system used. This ways you get to cook safely and efficiently and then slide off the pan-handle and serve right away!

We’re in an age of utter simplicity. This is what is good, this is what is right in design. Design something that works and something that is bare down to the bones, and you’ve got something beautiful. Design a simple and functional water pipe, and you’ve got a real winner! This horizontal Middle Eastern water pipe is the first product in the “White” series of simplicity by TRIBUDESIGN. Such a lovely aesthetic!

Never follow a snake without a big bump in the middle. Take the initiative and train yourself to understand the safeness of the light. The lighthearted comparison of this lamp “After Dinner” to a snake that’s just eaten. There’s two kinds, After Dinner and After Lunch. Can you guess which is which? Not for sitting on.

Let me channel my best Shamwow Guy impression and convince you these items are worth their salt. The Easy Food Dicer, Lemon Slicer and Robot Penguins have a tiny bit of Alessi in them but there’s something modernly sophisticated to them too.

What’s that? You want more organization in your kitchen? Well contrary to the title of this post, that’s what “Quatuor” is here to do! You’re in a hurry to create that perfect cake? Not to worry! Quatuor has your flour in a perfect proportion! Not only can in dispense both solid and liquid ingredients, it’s also got mystical magic charms cast on it!

I was once referred by a friend as “unnecessarily complicated” because I always look for products that continue to improve or enhance my way of life – even if it’s just on the aesthetic front. The Octor drain plug is just that. There’s nothing wrong with current drain plugs but are they as cute? NO. Are they as colorful? VERY FEW. Functionally it does wring itself out when you press down on the tubby top before returning to its normal shape. The designer calls it a finger hole, yes kids A FINGER HOLE. Draw your own conclusions.

Rewave is essentially a design using Reverse Osmosis for desalinating the sea water. More for private consumption in coastal regions where fresh water is scarce or at-sea disaster situations, the Rewave is quite self-sufficient. It floats in water and harnesses the energy from the waves to power itself. Since a great amount of pressure is required for RO, the aperture has been placed at the bottom of body, allowing the seawater to get through to the motor area. After desalinating, the fresh water accumulates at the top and comes out via a pipe.

The Waterdrop Shower Room brings to life the childhood fantasies of role-playing while taking a bath. Sometimes you’re a beastly pirate and sometimes a brave hero rescuing your ducks. This exciting enclosure comes with a tactile touchscreen that almost envelopes you. Its giant screen happily plays for you soothing melodies of the Chinese Opera to Nemo (although I reckon the big guys will opt for something more seductive!) and transports you to fantasy land!

Must it always have to be about kitchens with lack of space? Can’t we for once focus on showing off smart products on counter-tops or wall mounted goodies! I vote for a change in perspective and say that stuff like the SmartSpace Dry Food Dispenser be on the forefront. It’s good to hold pastas, breakfast cereals, pulses etc, plus you can let your creativity get the better of you and fill it up in a very decorative way with color-coordinated dry snacks and beans.

Helen is Gorgeous and who am I to dispute that! Whoever said women are jealous of each other and can never praise each other’s beauty…..ermmm was right! The only reason why I praise Gorgeous Helen is coz she’s not an actual person, but a set of lampshades for your wine glasses. Wicked me! Anyway, this creative piece of parchment shade comes in 3 different styles: illuminating imprints of pleats, pearls and fringes.

A terrace house done in a Heritage Art Deco style, with light open plan living and a nice balance betweeen nature and contemporary living. Fresh. To me, the best part about this house is that it’s a renovation. We’ve got no “before” pics here, but I doubt it compared at all to this magnificent living space. After that it’s gotta be the gigantic light space dividing the two sections of the house, wrapped in aluminum wall cladding absolutely pouring light into the entire abode. Just lovely.
