Now These Are Some Shears!

Now These Are Some Shears!

I have a secret obsession with scissors. There’s a room in my home where I do all my clothing work and in a box are scissors from Germany and Japan since they seem to make the best steel. I would love to add one more to my collection from designer Michael Antrobus called Ground Tools. A stunning pair of shears made from carefully bent flat steel bars using homemade jigs and presses. The result is minimal, raw, even primal..

None More Fierce A Bow

None More Fierce A Bow

Hello there archerists. I know that word is wrong. But you wouldn’t be telling me it was wrong if I had a BOW and ARROWS would you? No way! Having a bow and arrows is totally intense. Completely fierce, and not just Beyonce fierce. Like really wolflike and cougarlike. Comin at ya! And you know this bow is wild if we’re featuring it here on Yanko. We only feature the most fierce! This bow is a Recurve Bow, the kind they use in the Olympics. And you know they only let wolves in that.

I Got Kitchen Envy, Thanks Henrybuilt

I Got Kitchen Envy, Thanks Henrybuilt

Jealous of that kitchen? I sure am. The Integrated Bar Block by Henrybuilt is an additional piece to the free standing island but looks meant to be. Each Bar Block is handmade from solid wood to extend any kitchen system with a bevy of drawers, storage, and cutting boards. Seriously, I’m looking into my kitchen with disdain. We often see elaborate kitchens in magazines when the reality is most of us have tiny ones. This is a perfect example of crafted functionality for real kitchens.

Air Cones For Road Safety

Air Cones For Road Safety

Road Cones can be a pain sometimes, for the driver a safety hazard and for the guy who has to place them on the road, a back breaking job. Not many must have thought of redesigning this thang, but innovation is really called for. Interim let’s look at the Air Cone Concept; it’s this flattened balloon strip that you lay on the road. Inflating it causes Air Cones to pop up, but care has been taken to ensure a sturdy design. Only hope that crazy kids with pins in hand don’t go popping it just for fun.

Ladder? No way! Ratchet!

Ladder? No way! Ratchet!

I didn’t ratchet my way into writing this article, I just hammered it out. But that’s not what Itay Laniado is all about. Itay Laniado designed this magnificent set of material, metal, and wood. It’s a ladder that’s got nothing holding it together but a single ratchet. And what’s best about that? Collapsibility. Lots and lots of collapsibility that means you can jam this ladder in just about any crack or nook.

Advance Carbon Fiber Electric Bike

Advance Carbon Fiber Electric Bike

Thinking caps on because this takes some imagination to digest. The HMK 561 is a carbon fiber bike with special electrical properties that hold power right inside the frame. Carbon fiber is highly conductive so the designer uses it as a power distribution network instead of  wires. The power drives the lights and the motors in between the rims but get this… there’s regenerative braking. All that energy drives a system that turns the wheels using a counter-turning axel in lieu of gears and chains.

All I Ever Want Is The Smartbook To Be Real

All I Ever Want Is The Smartbook To Be Real

And then I’m ready to go to Geek Heaven! One of the reasons why devices like iPad and other tablets exist is to satisfy this urge in us to stay connected to the web world. Latest touchscreen phone also carry the same incentive, but somehow both the devices have one flaw: tablets lack an external keyboard and phones lack the screen real estate. To bridge the gap we have the really innovative Smartbook; a Smartphone that flips open to become a QWRTY keyboard and syncs with its personalized PC Tablet.

Two Baths Crashed

Two Baths Crashed

That’s right, two baths crashed very gracefully and what came out the other side? This thing right here! It’s called the Infinity Bath, and it’s just the best thing ever I’m tellin ya. It’s got controls! Total technology in your ol’ bucket o’ wash water. Yessir, technology and next level comfort. And it all comes through the mini-panel on the inside side of the bath, which accesses every sensation: scent, music, touch, and eyeballs.

Move! Your Butt And Stuff

Move! Your Butt And Stuff

Dual functionality is the name of the game and if you add in words like “green”, ecofirendly” or “recycle”, the game gets better. What we have here is a simple enough solution to a problem that might not exists;but let’s just go with the flow for a moment. Scenario is that you move often and/or don’t have the resources to furnish your sparse accommodation, so you probably need boxes that can double up as furniture. So when you’re not packing stuff into “Move!”, just rearrange its body to become this seat to park your butt.

The Whole Childhood Made of Wood

The Whole Childhood Made of Wood

What’s a good plate with nothing on it? No, what’s a bunch of good food without a plate? What’s a good baby without a single bed to sleep upon? How about when that baby gets a bit older, what happens then? Buy more furniture for them? Heck no! You take that crib you’ve got there and you transform it into a whole bunch of little person friendly bits of fun! Complete with another bed for that ever-elongating person.

Washing Machine Divides and Conquers

Washing Machine Divides and Conquers

I want this in my home NOW. We all know step 1 in caring for your clothes is to properly wash them but who can be bothered with the whole separate and sort bit? Technically you should sort by color first, then fabric. That all adds up to multiple loads, some of which may not be full which makes you an evil water waster. The Individual Washer concept is an upright washing machine with 3 compartments to sort and launder your clothes together without worry about color bleeding or bleaching. Now I’m looking at my washing machine with contempt.

Deep Sea Exploring

Deep Sea Exploring

Fluke is a diving robot designed for the deep abyss. The data collected serves to deepen our understanding of the ocean as an ecosystem. The research probes are equipped with flexible, pressure-resistant carriers suitable for holding various sensors in order to prepare for the respective missions. Extremely effective and featuring reduced energy consumption, the low-complexity drive system concept is based on the movements of a fish and can be manufactured affordably.

Over the Land and Through the Port

Over the Land and Through the Port

Look at that port! More on that later. This concept vehicle is the OEX-B, the Overland Expedition type B. Overland, basically meaning across land exclusively, describes where this truck shall go, and sightseeing is what its passengers shall do. Made for tourist travel, is what it is. For the best tour ever, with the most eyes directed towards YOU. Because there’s no way in HECK there’s going to be a truck like yours on the road when you’re cruzin in this bad boy.
