Ecotourism in 3s

Ecotourism in 3s

Three Stacks is a group of ecotourism structures proposed for ethnic locations throughout the Ukrainian region. Two of the 4 level structures contain sleeping accommodations for guests, and the third is a restaurant. The buildings are composed of wood, cane, clay and grass, and are linked through modern energy-efficient lighting in combination with landscape elements also native to the region.

The Grasshopper

The Grasshopper

The motivation behind the El Tucura (The Grasshopper) trike was to give paraplegic users the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of off-road downhill mountain biking, promoting it as an integrated nationwide sport. A crank handle drive means hands are free for steering while accelerating and three 180mm disc brakes and a 250mm suspension give added control on those extreme downhills. I’d have no qualms about trading in my two-wheels for these three!

Interactive Urban Prairie

Interactive Urban Prairie

Urban Prairie is an intuitive and interactive motion recognition installation that seeks to recreate a 1000 square meter sea of prairie grass within a 5 meter shop window. The design aims to promote well-being and recreation in an urban setting while driving focus to the space through the intelligent use of motion sensing technology. Passersby can engage with the prairie and generate varying “wind disturbances” by simply adjusting their walk speed and other movements. Hit the jump to see it in action!

再生牆壁砌成的大樓

再生牆壁砌成的大樓

現在,在你的腦中想像一只垃圾桶(你聽好了)。將垃圾桶裝裝滿草謝、等可分解產品Take that bin and fill it with compostable products like grass cuttings, tea bags, & cardboard (just do it). Now attach your new plant-worthy cell to the facade of an ugly building with thousands of other composting bins (don’t forget the plant).  You’re all finished! Now watch it grow, reduce CO2, collect rainfall for reuse, and transform your least favorite eyesores into a recycled, green, and overall cool looking structure. Now wasn’t that easy?

Patch of Coffee Green

Patch of Coffee Green

Mugs aren’t just plain ceramic objects that hold beverages. They have grown to become something meaningful with sentimental value. A whole industry thrives by selling us zodiac related goods, love messages and what not. Adding to that list is “Grow Up”, a set of mugs with grassy bottoms. The concept is good, I just got a Message Bean, which I am nurturing, so a gifted mug/ grass patch is most welcome.

Walnut and Grass

Walnut and Grass

Designer Emily Wettstein uses reclaimed walnut and steel to craft this beautifully organic table. Love the rusted out legs juxtaposed by the lush planter. Not really my aesthetic but I appreciate the boldness. If I had one, I’d plant catnip and raise an army of cats.

New Age Bodhi Tree

New Age Bodhi Tree

You don’t need to be in Bodh Gaya to attain enlightenment, a relaxation Tree Bench built in white corian and peaceful surroundings is all that one requires! Talking of this bench, its one that weaves in natural elements like trees, soil and grass with modern amenities like a bench and lighting. Adaptable to a number of settings, I’d like to see one on my street!

No Stopping Public Relaxation

No Stopping Public Relaxation

Welcome to the future, where no road, train track, or body of water is barrier to the enjoyment and relaxation a person living in a city finds in a simple day in the park. As designer Mark Warren writes, “the city is made up of many urban barriers. These barriers provide and obstruction of the urban fabric. The area ABOVE these barriers can be used to provide not only a connection to the other side, but a space that can be used [for] more than just a bridge.” What a magnificent discovery!

Umbrella Is High On Grass!

Umbrella Is High On Grass!

How I love the double-meaning to this title, but sadly (err, debatable!) the grass referred to here is the sober green variety that grows in your backyard. Awesome idea displayed with the Green Trace project! A flat umbrella stand comes fitted with mesh and some pre-sowed seeds; lean wet umbrellas as suggested and let the water drip down to water em greens. Easy in a jiffy get indoors grass; a green patch out of nowhere! How very organically-kitsch!

Socialize With Me Here

Socialize With Me Here

It’s called the Habitbox. Its form is designed to encourage socialization behaviors a.k.a. it’s a cool place to chill – a hang out spot. Not quite sure if those surfaces are hard or soft but I know I rather sit in one of these things than a park with grass where ants poop. Yeah, I said it. Ants do poop. Same reason I don’t like swimming in the ocean. Whales poop too.

At Once Collection At Once!

At Once Collection At Once!

The following is a short exploration of three separate bits of furniture from the fabulous design group known as “At-Once!” The objects we’re about to look at go by the name Glorify, Diamond, and Dinoz, being an armchair, a table, and a desktop accessory, respectively. Each of these items is meant to represent a feeling of greatness: the armchair being of royal essence, the table being cut with the recollection of classically carved furniture that was precious stone studded, and the Dinoz is pure fun – being made for anything from Chia-pet garden enjoyment to artist-minded pencil holder.
