A Nuclear Health Spa for the Year 2030

A Nuclear Health Spa for the Year 2030

Could Embracing the Possible Health Benefits of Toxicity Persuade Society to Accept Nuclear Power? Radiance Resort is a work of future fiction, it investigates a society obsessed with youth and medical miracle cures. Mammals living in the Chernobyl exclusion zone receive 8 to 15 msvs of radiation every day. When these mammals were analysed, it was found that they were less likely to develop cancer, suggesting that small amounts of radiation might be good for us.

Celebrating Ten Years of Electrolux Design Lab

Celebrating Ten Years of Electrolux Design Lab

Electrolux Design Lab is in its tenth year and we are pretty excited about the 2012 competition. As Henrik Otto, Senior Vice President of Global Design at Electrolux puts it, “Ten years ago we set out to map the future. In what direction is our industry evolving? How will we cook, clean and wash our clothes in the years to come? What will the appliance of the future look like? To date we have reviewed over 10,000 design concepts but each year I’m seeing new concepts and ideas I never thought possible.”

Flameless Outdoor Cooker for Campers

Flameless Outdoor Cooker for Campers

The Outdoor Chef is a shortlisted entry in the 2011 Australian Design Award-James Dyson Award. It’s an all-in-one camp cooker designed for portability, storage, food prep and of course cooking. The flameless induction cooktop is perfect for fire restricted camp sites and considering this is from a country recently ravaged by fire – it emphasizes safety without compromising the joy of being outdoors.

Chop 'n Pour

Chop ‘n Pour

Experience is a good teacher they say and designer Junjie Piao learnt a good lesson with it. A stint in chopping celery sticks left him frustrated, especially when it was time to scoop and transfer them to a bowl. He decided to “design something to make this process easier without disturbing slicing.” Thus was born Pour-Smart, an L-shaped plastic piece and a bar of strong magnet. The contraption allows you to chop and easily transfer food from the cutting board to a bowl. Simple and very useful is my verdict!

Wood Yacht Fantasy

Wood Yacht Fantasy

I almost titled this post “Orange Yacht Fantasy” because the redness in the seats throughout this fabulous ship. It really brings out this yellow tones in the wooden decks, but then I realized, yes, they are wood. And it’s totally sexy. Sexy like a boat is sexy. This is the “Sentori 50 L”, a 50 feet flybridge motor yacht. Its length is 15.3 meters, its beam is 5 meters, its displacement is 18 tons, and it’s got so many features that you’ll be swimming in em. Or you would, but you’ll be on a YACHT.

For Efficient Straining

For Efficient Straining

I fancy this particularly thoughtful strainer that attaches to any pan or dish at its rim and drains off the liquid without letting any solids slip away. Crafted from silica gel, the Food Filter comes in different sizes and drains, fitting almost any size pans and for multiple purposes.

One Crib, All Babies

One Crib, All Babies

One panel, all personalities. That’s sort of the idea with this particular line of furniture that focuses on the panel. It’s called “Muu” and it’s got a “MuuPanel” system working for it. Imagine the luck, them having the same name like that! We’ve got a tiny bit of info on their Sam Collection – premium, colorful, and fresh. It’s all right inside this modern hipster style furnishings age we’re in. Right in there. I expect some amazing rock and roll screenprint posters on the wall and all natural food in the fridge for sure.

Your Own Kitchen Hideaway

Your Own Kitchen Hideaway

The Kitchen Hideaway is a peep into what food prep might be like in the future. A helmet and viewport allow you to image what it is you want to eat in your own virtual kitchen. Gone are the large appliances replaced by efficient robots that serve every gluttonous desire. You have to actually know how to cook the dish. The robots are only mimicking your technique. The technology is so life-like, it’s indistinguishable from the real thing. This is the Jetsons people. Even George would be jealous.
