Clickity Tickity Clock

Clickity Tickity Clock

Click tick, tick, click; olden clocks are where it’s at. Not since my grandmother’s mail-order grandfather clock have I seen a clicky-clock I like so much. But this one is not old at all! And at 18 inches at it’s widest, it’s not that space-consuming. But then again, take a peek at it’s wild manifestation. Sort of unwieldily perhaps. Not for the home with the tiny children with long reach. You know what kind of small household companion would like this though? A parakeet.

The Simplest Hammer Clock

The Simplest Hammer Clock

The simplest lockdown. The perfect form. What kind of minimalism are you into? I’m listening to one of the music mixtapes released in honor of Michael Jackson: this one has a vocals-only track of “Rock with You.” Perfect, wonderful, simple. In the clock you see here, we’ve got a companion in time. The colored circle, the giant nail marking the 12 and holding the clock to the wall, and the two hands of father time. Ow!

Blowfly - Flying Alarm Clock by Ena Macana

Blowfly – Flying Alarm Clock by Ena Macana

Many sleepers experience that after they turn off the alarm clock they go on sleeping. One thing that sometimes wakes you up at night and prevents you from sleeping is the mosquito or blowfly when flying around your room. You can’t and don’t want to fall asleep again until you’ve caught it. These produces adrenalin and requires movements.

Renewable Clock

Renewable Clock

The aptly named ECO clock is made from “100% glass and aluminum renewables.” The designer refuses to give any specifics on the manufacturing process or the clock mechanism so you know what that means? FREE FOR ALL! What we do know about is the magnetic mount system and there’s a special edition version planned . Overall, nice design but I leave it to the commenters to postulate.

Kinetic Effect Clock is Hypnotic

Kinetic Effect Clock is Hypnotic

Kinetic Effect Clock is a minimalistic clock that offers a fabulous kinetic effect depending on the position of 3 foils representing the hour, minutes and seconds. There are two versions, the first being a back-lit model that creates a monotone kaleidoscopic effect as light passes thru it. The second works on the same premise except each foil is a color from the CMKY model, K being the odd-man out. Hit the jump for a video.

CKIE Spotlight: Nooka Wall Clock

CKIE Spotlight: Nooka Wall Clock

I have quiet little corner in my heart for Nooka products. They’ve created a brand unique in a world of “me too” designs. Everyone and I do mean EVERYONE rocks Nooka wrist wear. Teens, dads, celebs – hell, even the most pragmatic people find something endearing about Nooka watches. But why limit it to your wrist? The designs are clearly strong and bold enough to exist in a different format. The Nooka Wall Clock is like a Nooka watch on steroids, sans wrist strap of course. Support it on CKIE.

Light and Shadow, Minimalist Clock

Light and Shadow, Minimalist Clock

The Pure+Clock by Darren Lin for a.cerco is a beautiful example of raw functionality extrapolated into a visually engaging design. The clean, monochromatic appearance is meant to soothe and go easy on the eyes. The arms cast a shadow on the clock face complimenting the ambient light around the rim. A wonderfully softening effect.

Making Your Own Clock

Making Your Own Clock

The Meaning of Time is a brilliant clock concept perfect for all those crafty people out there. It supplies the mechanism to keep time, you supply the hour and minute hands. You can use just about anything as long as it fits thru the holes. I myself am partial to a barrel of monkeys. Perhaps a picture string of ex-lovers or even more sinister ants trapped inside a glass tube.

Aqualicious Clock

Aqualicious Clock

The Aqua Clock is designed to show time in a new way. A mechanism inside moves the water up and down and apparently water is the perfect non-resistant element. I’m not exactly sure how to read it. Seems the demarcations around the ring help indicate time or it could be the water level just abstractly represents how much time is left in the day.

Domino Clock

Domino Clock

Award-winning product development consultancy Carbon Design Group repurposes an icon with the introduction of the Domino Clock™. The Domino Clock™ takes a simple, iconic object and transforms it into a new way to tell time. The concept is simple. Three larger-than-life dominoes are equipped with articulating “dots” that flip back-and-forth between black and white to keep time. They hang on the wall or stand free, communicating wirelessly as they quietly mark the passing hours and minutes.
