Modulated Bathroom System by Stefano Casanova

Modulated Bathroom System by Stefano Casanova

Designed to sit among regular white tiles in the bathroom, these are standard-sized ceramics – but with a unique twist. Each has a different function, so there’s one with a hook to take a towel, one with a blackboard front (it even includes a little shelf for chalk), one to hold a bath plug, and another with air vents. They add a new, clever element to the bathroom.

Your Very Own Monolith

Your Very Own Monolith

Monolite is a lamp that combines light, sounds, distractions and evocations.  Say what? It’s an architectonic interactive organ that creates a spatial and emotive “elsewhere”. Porqué??? At random times during the day, it reduces ambient light and an electroluminescent fractal pattern is displayed through cubes on the upper half of the device.

Where’s The HotSpot?

Where’s The HotSpot?

An imperative question when you are looking for some free internet access! I have a device for you here, that will turn you into the Water Witch, HotSpot Witch! Divina detects WiFi spots and allows you to expand the network by amplifying the signal thanks to the built-in hi-range sensors. The form of Divina is clearly inspired by the magical stick that Dowsers use. My only request, don’t go as crazy as them in the middle of the airport when you detect strong WiFi signals!

Finger Power Works The Tape

Finger Power Works The Tape

No matter how much we progress as far as technology is concerned, we always look back towards retro stalwarts for inspiration in the designing field. NVDRS Tape foxes around in the Cassette Tape construction but is actually a digital player. Deceptive looks aside, the player continues to follow the 45/60/90 minutes norm, holding 10/15/20 select songs in digital format; uploaded via USB.

Ultimate Suffering Over Spilt Soup

Ultimate Suffering Over Spilt Soup

Have you ever felt like the 80′s were over? Have you ever felt like those TV-trays you used were pretty excellent, but then again, pretty wobbly? Have you ever felt like you needed a giant retro-futuristic table chair in your home, but never had the courage to ask for it? Buck up, bucko, because Stefano Rubertelli has got what your chicken-noodle-craving, couch-potato self is sniffing for.

Lofu Shoe Review, Crocs It Ain't

Lofu Shoe Review, Crocs It Ain’t

About a month ago I got an email from Designer Stefano Casanova about his new Lofu shoe. At first I was put off by their Crocs-like material but these are some of the most comfortable slip-ons I’ve ever had.

The World's Brightest Swizzle Stick

The World’s Brightest Swizzle Stick

While not explicitly intended as a swizzle stick, the Mahoo light from Stefano Pistilli uses the conduction of water to complete the circuit and power the light inside. Utilizing an interesting environmental trigger, these could also be great night time pool toys or even help see and identify other scuba divers on a night dive. Nevertheless, I’m drinking alone tonight and I’m hoping scotch and soda has enough electrolytes to power this friendly light on.

Where's the extra seating when we need it?

Where’s the extra seating when we need it?

Some of us like to entertain but it’s not feasible to have 12 chairs laying around all the time. So designer Stefano Bigi designed a collection of furniture that cleverly hid extra seating inside its body. The fruition of which he calls the Globos Collection.

Superstition in Design

Superstition in Design

You’ve heard the old rules. Don’t walk under a ladder. Be wary of a black cat. Never spill salt. It’s all superstition but many people today still follow those axioms so designer Stefano Oliva decided to have a little fun with it in creating Sale, a salt container you roll across the table. I wonder how they’ll react to this.

Alessi Chin Family With the National Palace Museum of Taiwan by Giovannoni & Takeda

Alessi Chin Family With the National Palace Museum of Taiwan by Giovannoni & Takeda

The collaboration between Alessi and the NPM of Taiwan grew out of the museum’s wish to open itself yet further to the international scene, and to encourage greater awareness of Chinese history and culture in the West. We asked Stefano Giovannoni to imagine and design a sort of mascot for the new Museum of the 21st Century.

Cutesy Sushi

Cutesy Sushi

Now I love me some Sushi, and have to go at least one night a week to enjoy it. Unfortunately, the store I go to has the traditional boring serving set that well, really does nothing for me. I pay it no mind. Like I said, it is quite boring. Now, I have been introduced to a new design by Stefano Giovannoni, and I have to get my hands on a set like this.
