TeaStick/Stirrer by Lee Yun Qin

TeaStick/Stirrer by Lee Yun Qin

Teastick seeks to re-define the form of a tea-bag, such that it can also act as a stirrer for the user, allowing the user to enjoy the tea through stirring it easily. The simplicity of the form also allows it to be hung from the sides of a mug, so that the tag does not drop into the tea.

Cellphone Inspired By Chinese Scrolls

Cellphone Inspired By Chinese Scrolls

As flexible displays come to market, designers are asked how they can design products that utilize the technology while remaining meaningful. Yun Liang’s scroll cellphone takes its inspiration from how traditional Chinese paintings are unfurled.

Hamper is the Washing Machine

Hamper is the Washing Machine

I fail at managing laundry. I have way too many clothes. When I am ready to wash, it’s an all day affair dragging heavy baskets to and from the washer/dryer. I’m not saying I’m too busy or lazy. I just want a simpler solution and I think designer Guopeng Liang is on to something with his iBasket concept.

No Longer Color Blind!

No Longer Color Blind!

Touch Color is the combination of a Thermal digital tablet and a Rainbow Color picking ring that allows a blind person to paint colorful pictures with his fingers on the tablet. The 24 colors on the ring are differentiated by Braille dots and varied temperature generated by the embedded LED bulbs. Artistically inclined or not, this concept of “Blind Color Painting” sure sounds like technology is heading in the right direction.

Power of The Revolving Light Switch

Power of The Revolving Light Switch

Gradually as dawn breaks the rays of the sun bathe the sky with its warm glow. A meditative effect that sees itself being transformed as the MAGI! With this concept you get a two-part team that tangos together to perform a synchronized dance. Rotate the power switch and the overhead lamp progressively opens to reveal the light. Like the glorious sun shining over you, urging you to feel your inner light, the MAGI beams through.

“Tikk, tikk... tekk!” The Special Sound Of Measure

“Tikk, tikk… tekk!” The Special Sound Of Measure

No more approximations, not even if you’re blind. A reassuring sound of “Tikk, tikk… tekk”, two fingers and some Braille embossed cylinders, mix them up and you got yourself the Tikk-Tekk Rainbow! It’s a low-cost universal measuring tool that uses a string (ranging from 1cm to 100 cm) wrapped within the casing, and is extended between the finger tips. Kinda like how you use your hands to gesture an estimated distance; only Tikk-Tekk gives you the exact numbers.

Back to the Table II

Back to the Table II

So you know that one movie where the fruit stand comes down from the ceiling? That was neat. Here’s a whole table that does that! It’s the interactive type, all the most excellent things you’d want in a table, recipes, morning calendars, and games. It’s made for meals and parties, and sometimes for along times in the morning. And for easy cleaning! So simple in future land!

Yanko Welcomes the Age of Mobile Kawaii!

Next in a long line of contenders for the so-called “Smart Phone.” Featuring a very limited button selection, camera, color screen, and hiding feature, (and not much else,) here comes the “Cute Phone!” It requires only one more feature to be true to the culture: a hole to hang colorful keychains and blinky beads!

Dish Paws

Dish Paws

Do you have dish paws? Paws that do dishes or any sorts of cleaning in a jiffy. So efficient that you want to have them on all the time, especially if you are a cleanliness freak! Basically we’re looking at mittens with polypropylene woven in a rope form, covering the outer skin. And it’s the whole glove that is being used as a cleaning brush or “Brüsh” as Liang calls it. Special attention has been giving to the pressure points like the tips and the base of the palm (color coded grey). These areas are covered with a harder version of polypropylene to add power to the scrubbing.

I'm Breakin' Dishes

I’m Breakin’ Dishes

“I’m breaking dishes, up in here. All Night (uh-huh). I ain’t go stop until I see police and lights (uh-huh).”

Sorry, was having a little Rihanna moment there but nonetheless it does have something to do with this concept by Yoon-Jung Yun. Everyone eventually breaks a dish so why not purposely build in a second function should you get dish happy.

Just A Matter Of Habit

Just A Matter Of Habit

Bad habits die hard, especially the ones where you have to go switch off your electronics from the mains. Doing their bit to resolve this issue, designers Daun Yun & Junil Choi have come up with the “Switcle”, the plug-point and the switch married into one! Dang, only one tiny flaw, you still need to remember to switch OFF.
