Accurate Warning!

Accurate Warning!

I have seen plenty of warning sign concepts and some innovative enough to include LED. But this one takes the cake for being simple and effective! Just look at it, the sign indicates exactly which way you need to divert by pointing out an LED Arrow to the right direction. Left or right…you get to set it, depending upon your broken-down vehicle’s position. Awesome!

Clockwork Orange/Pink/Blue/Red...Cafe

Clockwork Orange/Pink/Blue/Red…Cafe

Check out the “Majik Café” in Belgrade, Serbia by Karim Rashid. It exploded onto the Serbian nightlife scene in a technicolor jamboree making for one superfly example of 21st century technolust. Featuring super duper nooks and crannies like his and her cutout faces framing the entrance to the DJ Kreemy booth lounge (restroom) area.

Light My Fire

Light My Fire

Two persistent devices in an emergency system are lights and water, but why do they have to be separate components? Duck Image Studio went about to create a unified ceiling sprinkler system incorporating a bright LED light. The light beam, which also comes from the nozzles, illuminates the scene making work easier for rescuers.

Keep That Baby Swaddled

Keep That Baby Swaddled

So you’ve got a new baby, right? What are you going to do?! I don’t know! You might be in trouble! But you’ve got to buckle down. You’re a parent now. You’d better put that child in a buggy. You’d better put that baby in the “Smart Baby Case.” It’s kind of like a Matrix robot nanny pod sort of thing.

Cryptex Mobile: Feel the code

Cryptex Mobile: Feel the code

Opus Dei has been needing a mobile phone to call their very own since the demise of the Knights Templar. If only designer Marc Schömann was catholic and lived 600 years ago, this baton style mobile phone might have saved them from a Dan Brown style disaster. This phone called “_______” (yup, it has no name) uses haptic technology to provide physical feedback for making a call.

Yellow Shape Above

Yellow Shape Above

In an aim to renew the use of so called traditional materials, designer Rodrigo Vairinhos of Neo Design presents this lovely yellow lamp that goes by the name “Longo.” Look at the elegance! Vairinhos informs us that the creation of this project is ecologically friendly, tying the always classic ceramic with the relatively new excellence of LED light. And it’s not just in yellow! Hooray for white/white, white/black, AND white/yellow.

Bottle So Beautiful And Full Of Light!

Bottle So Beautiful And Full Of Light!

Bottle Light: the concept is simple, instead of trashing an empty PET Bottle, squish it properly and screw it onto the modular aluminum LED enclosure! Normally we just end up discarding the bottle, but using it in this manner; we can get vivid shapes and refracted colors for lights. I know this idea will click in theme restaurants that are eco-centric. Not much costs involved since you need to invest only in a couple of those LED lights and holders.

How to GO GREEN With A Shower, Wand, Shoe, Dish and Bamboo

How to GO GREEN With A Shower, Wand, Shoe, Dish and Bamboo

Recently Sony encouraged some ID students from China to think GREEN and come up with eco-friendly products that can be incorporated into everyday life. The results were amazing concepts like a showerhead kinda music player, a conductor’s baton-styled TV remote, a shoe clasp GPS device, a solar powered speaker dish and a bamboo work frame for a music system. Take a look at them in detail after the jump.

Play With Me Lamp

Play With Me Lamp

This lamp was made to be played with! Lamp E by Kako.Ko design studio is made of tough extruded aluminum and a single side of LED lights that line each of the three rectangular multi-directional branches to direct light to different places. The orientation of the LED strips means the lights will always be visible no matter what position the user places it in. Gotta love this clever interactive lighting sculpture.

No Switch’n This Lamp!

No Switch’n This Lamp!

Besides their whacky sense of poetry, designer duo Qian and Yiying’s perceptions in ID tickle me no end! For example this JOININ’ Lamp; now it does what lamps are supposed to do…Light Up; but the duo jazz up the design by doing away with the ever-essential switch. They have included eight pairs of electrical contacts instead. So toss in some coins (or fancy metal pins) and see which of those 8 LEDs light up! Quirky ID fun!
