Not Another Brick In The Wall

Not Another Brick In The Wall

The Save Water Brick design is really unique; the brick is a mixture of discarded plastic bottles and dried rotting leaves molded into bricks. There are funnels within the brick to channelize the rain water to nearby plants or underground tanks. So the basic idea is that it collects rainwater for consumption. Obviously the bricks are intended for external walls so that they can absorb the water, but the question is will they be strong enough to endure the elements?

The Green Share A Cab

The Green Share A Cab

In Utopia you can actually find cabs that are willing to take you to your destination. In that same fantasy land, cabs drivers and passengers actually believe in carpooling! For such fantasy situations is the Carpool LED Top Light. This sprightly indicator harnesses the wind energy via the embedded fan to power the indicating lights. Sadly we don’t live in Utopia and we can never find a cab, let alone share one!

Go Around The Buttons

Go Around The Buttons

Merry go round the buttons I tell ya! Dang the button area around your starched shirt is tough to crease-out. Some irons do have indents on the side, allowing you to kinda skim around the sweet spot, but it ain’t got a Full U like the “U-Button Iron”. Hit the special button the iron and voilà! The tip retracts to reveal a U that slides under the button to give you a fully ironed shirt.

Crazy Cutlery With Identity Crisis

Crazy Cutlery With Identity Crisis

Does the Chopork have an identity crisis? Like would you classify it as a fork or a chopstick or both? Nah! I wouldn’t bother much about the functionality of two sticks turning from a fork to chopsticks. I’d be worried about branding it as Chopork; sounds more like chop-the-pork! Got any better name suggestions?

Moisture Collectors

Moisture Collectors

Inspired by the Giving Tree, this project called the “Savior Bud” latches on to trees (one of Earth’s most generous living things) and uses it’s natural recycling processes to obtain water. In a simple process which basically involves collecting the moisture from the leaves and emptying it out into containers, the Savior Bud takes one more step toward acceptable living conditions in Africa.

Do Not Shake Vase

Do Not Shake Vase

We’ve had our share of vase concepts here on Yanko Design, and this is definitely one of them. It’s strikingly similar to a previous “framed vase” design we published some months ago, but it’s unique in it’s shape and execution. The line holding the frame is a wire, the wire bone’s connected to the light bone, and the light shines on the plant. Super cute.

No Need To Unplug

No Need To Unplug

Keep getting to slammed for not switching off the mains or unplugging your gadgets? It’s not that people are reckless or unconcerned about the environment, but sometimes simple and easy things like this becomes too much of an effort. So should we mop around for allowing Stand-By Power to contribute to almost 11% of our monthly electricity bill? No ways, we should endorse cool innovations like the “Power Socket SWITCH” and live happily ever after!

This Traffic Light Is Always Green

This Traffic Light Is Always Green

Now here’s a creative design that is not only Green, but also cost-effective. Solar Traffic Light has been designed to include Discolor LED (Light Emitting Diode) technology, essentially hosting all the three colors of the lights within a single unit. Red, Amber and Green all together! The lights source power from the Solar Panel on top of the unit, which is elegantly designed as a hood. Quite Brilliant!

Sittin Around on Shrooms!

Sittin Around on Shrooms!

Yes, the “Mustool,” exactly the seat you need to build your Streets of Amsterdam themed bar and grill around. Or perhaps the psychedelic masterpiece Heavy Metal is more your mushroomy pleasure? Or perhaps you’re in the mood for Alice in Wonderland? That’s what designer Gray Goh Szjin had in mind when these fungus among-us type chairs came drifting between the ears.

Follow That Trail Of Footprints

Follow That Trail Of Footprints

One of the most important factors in cutting down the risks of the job is the gear that the firefighters use. Safety of Life Fireman’s Boots is a clever attempt to ensure that fighters can keep a tab on their partners and locate them instantly, in case of disorientation or the likes. The fireboots make an illuminating footprint on the floor of a room, leaving a trail of the user. Following the glowing footprints, the backup team can trace & reach the rescue worker, should he require it.

Don’t Panic Just Yet

Don’t Panic Just Yet

Given the current terror scenario across the world, it’s only natural instincts to get panicky if the lights blank out while traveling by the underground train. It could be a normal technical snag, but we fear the worst, and rightly so. Coaches are generally equipped with emergency lights, but something like the Emergency Handle Light can give the commuters a lot more confidence to deal with the situation. It’s the overhead handle re-designed to fit in a flashlight at the end.

Ten Necessities When Disaster Strikes

Ten Necessities When Disaster Strikes

Natural disasters and accidents happen with little or NO warnings. One of the best ways to deal with such situations is by being a bit prepared. By being prepared I mean more than just the First Aid Box; stuff like lights, shelter, tools, supplies, installations and kits that can help you deal with emergencies. Here’s a look at Ten Necessities When Disaster Strikes; a compilation of what we got on YD.
