Savior In Deep Waters

Savior In Deep Waters

Generally the focus is always on rapid action response kinda systems that help provide relief during disasters. The flat-pack recovery Rescue Boat seen here is not for rapid response but for post-disaster scenarios. The focus is on a systematic, reliable vessel that will help recover cargo and victims. It is stored and transported in its stackable 9″-deep form, with pontoon tubes detached; till its services are required.

Smartbooks Are The Next Step

Smartbooks Are The Next Step

Yes. Is the start of my last jam. This project is right on. I’ve been thinking about, suggesting, pushing the idea that these tiny internet machines (ipod, blackberry, etc) need to be just a little bit bigger, but not quite as big as a laptop. Students at the Savannah College of Art & Design have mocked up a messa concepts for this very purpose. With the help of Freescale chip manufacturers, they’re bustin up the streets with a nice list here!

Overhead Gaming Revolution

Overhead Gaming Revolution

Whoa a revolution! Total revolution. For people who bring their giant computers all to one spot and give the party that ensues a name: LAN. Local Area Networks with 1,000 cables no more! Here it is in one machine. Each console can handle up to 16 players. This machine, the “Iris,” is a computer, router, switch, and projector. And! And! And! it costs around the price of a single home computer. Now with updates from the man himself!

Projectors Galore

Projectors Galore

Projectors, projectors, here and there, projectors, projectors, projecting on everywhere. According to Gareth Marples, the first conceptual drawing of a projector was done in 1420 by Johannes de Fontana: a drawing of a monk with a lamp projecting a vision of a devil holding a lance. Truly a lovely first ideation it was. In this post we use two brand new concept projectors, top prize winners at a recent Philips design competition, to open the door to Yanko’s full collection of projector concepts.

Are You Up For Some Molecular Cooking?

Are You Up For Some Molecular Cooking?

I know that Molecular gastronomy is a scientific discipline involving the study of physical and chemical processes that occur in cooking, but this is the first time I’m coming across a device that actually allows you to do some Molecular Cooking! Consisting of a whip syphon, vaporizer and blow torch the “Moleculars” is something that would make an adventurous cook pretty happy in the kitchen. Experimentation would be the name of the game.

POW! A six-speed dual-clutch transmission with electronic lurch and traction control. Electronic tuning by the onboard computer. I’ve decided to call it “Frank”. Hello David, Frank, aka CB750, is here to take you over the canyon top.

Scorpion and Sting-Ray Rescue Team

Scorpion and Sting-Ray Rescue Team

Horray! Friends amongst killer animals! Animal inspirations. Actually there’s no scorpion involved. Awww. What is involved, is solar power, first off. Solar power charges up the batteries in this lifeguard stand. As the batteries charge, the lifeguard sees danger! He slides down the slide, picks up a battery, inserts it in the stingray skiff, boats on over to the victim, inflates the safety vest, and autopilots back to base.

Have a Green Thumb but always rued the lack of space, season or inclination to get your personal green-patch? No worries, the Eden Project is perfectly suited for such situations. It’s almost like owning a part-time garden that’s on a set of wheels and is very un-demanding.
