Indestructible Sunglasses

Indestructible Sunglasses

Don’t mistake the “Fisk” for some pair of pimp glasses. These aren’t flashy. They aren’t gonna make eyes explode with envy. They’re gonna fit perfect and they’re gonna last. Whatchu watchu want? The first of two major features is the Global Fit adjustable nose bridge. Soft low porosity silicone over structural nylon adjustable to your strange nose. Then there’s the Ratchet Hinge. The hinge is made of surgical stainless steel and built with a Metal Injection Molding process for unbreakableness. Not to be left on your dashboard.

Sunlight VS Pixel Power

Sunlight VS Pixel Power

Sunglasses, the coolest thing since sliced bread, are about to get a wild revamp. Designer Chris Mullin presents “Electronic Sunglasses,” a concept for blocking the sun not all at once, but in a targeted manner, creating not just a blocked vision, but a modified one. These glasses have what Mullin calls a “glare shield” that reacts to and follows bright light sources inside the glasses area, blocking it to a degree that will potentially change the way you see the world, letting you see straight forward when otherwise the sun would force you to blink.

RetroVision

RetroVision

Everything old is new again, especially when it comes to these very retro inspired sunglasses. Where normally tinted UV blocking lenses would cut the glare of the sun, these “Reed Screen Sunglasses” by Sang Jang Lee use the ancient eastern practice of reed screens to block the sun’s blinding glare. In case you are in the dark about reed screens, they are those roll up window blinds made of peeled reed stems.

MYKITA Eyewear, Berlinese Style

MYKITA Eyewear, Berlinese Style

This past summer I walked by our local eyewear shop and decided to kill some time. The shop owner brought over these very angular metal eye glasses and proclaimed they were right up my aesthetic alley. She was right. Mykita, MYKITA- “sounds Japanese” I said, but the unique springless design and sharp silhouettes were clues to its real origins – only Germans could create something so fantastically warm and modern. Within days I had samples in my hand and spoke to the Berlinese boys about their company. Hit the jump for our quick chat.

Cool Catty Eyes Are Better Than Designer Shades

Cool Catty Eyes Are Better Than Designer Shades

Imagine the soccer ball aiming straight for your eyes instead of the net. It sure is not the best day to show-off your new Armani shades. Crash, Bam and broken shards of designer glasses! Easy remedy anyone? Safer and wiser to use: The Optimal Vision Color Contact Lens that are NOT COSMETIC, but act like sunglasses. Shades of green, yellow, red and grey prim your eyes up and offer sunglasses protection without the risk of injury. Oh, n keep the volume low when you watch that video; I got nothing for torn eardrums right now!

A Marriage Of Style And Technology

A Marriage Of Style And Technology

I don’t think I need to remind you of the quirky sunglasses, MP3s or headsets that we have seen on YD over the years. However is this one of those moments where I bring you an item that’s all three! Bluetooth headset, player AND Sunglasses all rolled into one. Mood is something you would like to wear down Miami Beach and impress the crowds with your style. It’s a multifunctional accessory for your music, phone and eyes.

For The Weary Traveler

For The Weary Traveler

The frequent traveler knows having the right accessories can keep a trip from becoming a disaster. Neck pillows are notorious for promising more than they deliver. However something high-tech like the Digital Neck Pillow is worth exploring. Its supposed to be soft and temperature controlled and with gimmicks like an integrated MP3 player and digital sunglasses. Perfect to keep you entertained or lull you to sleep. I want one!

Solar Powered Solar Panel Sun Glasses

Solar Powered Solar Panel Sun Glasses

The glasses themselves don’t need power to block the sun’s rays from your eyes. That’s power-free. The SIG, or “Self-Energy Converting Sunglasses” are quite simple. The lenses of the glasses have dye solar cells, collecting energy and making it able to power your small devices through the power jack at the back of the frame. “Infinite Energy: SIG”

CKIE Spotlight: Nooka Wall Clock

CKIE Spotlight: Nooka Wall Clock

I have quiet little corner in my heart for Nooka products. They’ve created a brand unique in a world of “me too” designs. Everyone and I do mean EVERYONE rocks Nooka wrist wear. Teens, dads, celebs – hell, even the most pragmatic people find something endearing about Nooka watches. But why limit it to your wrist? The designs are clearly strong and bold enough to exist in a different format. The Nooka Wall Clock is like a Nooka watch on steroids, sans wrist strap of course. Support it on CKIE.

The Car Knows What You're Thinking

The Car Knows What You’re Thinking

I’d love to travel back in time, point and laugh at all the futurists who thought we would be in flying cars by now. Of course they couldn’t have possibly foreseen a future where the challenges of navigable controls, integrated computers and an energy crisis dominate the landscape. The NEURON is an IMAGINATIVE look at how BMI (brain interface technology) could bring “man and machine” even closer. It doesn’t rely on physical dexterity. Just think it and it’s done. Now channeling Spock… “fascinating.”
