Babble Headsets Look Cool, But Not In Your Ear

Babble Headsets Look Cool, But Not In Your Ear

I have a love/hate relationship with bluetooth headsets. They have always seemed the fantastic gadgets of the future right up until you put one on and instantly increase your Douche Quotient by 200%.  Case in point, these Babble headsets from Mr. Onuff Studio look fantastic and give us a peak into the variations that exist before a final product choice is made. I suppose we’ll have to wait for aural implants before truly appreciating the wonder of bluetooth without the stigma of pompousness.

BT Headset Circa 2007, Still Looks Good

BT Headset Circa 2007, Still Looks Good

Pure Rubber is a bluetooth headset designed in 2007. At the time BT headsets where large and made every wearer a cyborg-esque automaton. As sexy as that sounds, it wasn’t a good look. Once in awhile it’s nice to reach back into the archives and bear witness to which concepts actually stood the test of time. Today’s headsets all pretty much mimic the size and shape of the Pure Rubber. Nice one.

Stereo Bluetooth Earbuds That Actually Work!

Stereo Bluetooth Earbuds That Actually Work!

Sony approached me a few months ago about a stereo bluetooth headset. I had my doubts because I’ve used my share and the declarations never meet up with experience. The Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800 however are all that and a bag of chips provided you have a fully compatible device. Hit the jump for my review.

Bluetooth Headset Happy. Jawbone II Review

Bluetooth Headset Happy. Jawbone II Review

Like many places, California implemented a new law prohibiting cellular use without a handsfree device while driving. Ironically that’s when Jawbone contacted me to do a review on their second generation bluetooth headset. Same aesthetic but significantly smaller, lighter, and improved sound quality. What more could one ask for?

All That Noise and More

All That Noise and More

Green Noise Bluetooth Headset is a step in the right direction, although I think it can do with some refinements. For a first draft in the idea of having headsets that soak in the high decibels and convert them to usable energy, it is a fantastic take. Imagine cancelling all the screaming fans in a football stadium and at the same time harnessing their energy! Sounds excellent!

Wireless Headset Even Tho I See Wires

Wireless Headset Even Tho I See Wires

The Mousse Earpiece is a bit of an oxymoron. It is a wireless headset even tho we can clearly see wires. The wireless bit comes from the little metal control unit. It transmits the Bluetooth signal but also doubles as a cord retractor because tangled wires piss me off and they should you off too. Aside from that, designer Ming Yi says noise reduction and volume control are a given. We will see since this is just a concept and since when does Braun make headsets?

12 Inspirational and Exclusive Interviews on Yanko Design – Scott Wilson

There is more to Scott Wilson than being the Kickstarter man. His boyish charm belies his wisdom and learning experiences. Listening to him tell me his story, makes me wonder…just how did he do it! Maybe it’s the Nike influence! A former Global Creative Director at Nike, Wilson has lead design organizations such as IDEO, Thomson Consumer Electronics, Fortune Brands, and Motorola and created some of the most recognized consumer design icons.

Without further ado, let’s ‘kickstart’ February with Scott Wilson…

How To 'Not' Put On Your Earrings

How To ‘Not’ Put On Your Earrings

There’s been a lot of effort in transforming our ugly, but occasionally necessary, bluetooth headsets into something beautiful and ornamental but this headset by Ilshat Garipov almost crosses the line into complete ornament. Obviously designed for, and pulled off much better by, a woman, the piece took inspiration from the formation of a water droplet, housing a single button for receiving and ending calls. Now if only Ilshat would make something masculine for us guys; we occasionally like to look like self-important douchebags too!

Clipset - Bluetooth Headset by Matthias Lange

Clipset – Bluetooth Headset by Matthias Lange

While other common headsets often affect the appearance of the user in a very technical way, the Clipset is designed to be a comfortable and stylish accessory. If it’s currently not in use the earphone could be wrapped around the device. The interface consists of three buttons. Two buttons for volume control and one power button that is also used to answer incoming calls.

A Marriage Of Style And Technology

A Marriage Of Style And Technology

I don’t think I need to remind you of the quirky sunglasses, MP3s or headsets that we have seen on YD over the years. However is this one of those moments where I bring you an item that’s all three! Bluetooth headset, player AND Sunglasses all rolled into one. Mood is something you would like to wear down Miami Beach and impress the crowds with your style. It’s a multifunctional accessory for your music, phone and eyes.
