Obsession With Sputnik!

Sputnik on Yanko Design has a deeper meaning than just the space satellite. Hit the “Sputnik” button and you’ll find two lamps and a projector already featured here. This time around our quest for the name takes us to the doors of Kibardindesign Studio, who have designed the namesake watch. Giving a new look to the classic digital watch, this funky version allows you to accessorize in a myriad of hues. Fancy one of these? You’re in luck coz they are open for pre-orders!

Projection in Orbit!

Projection in Orbit!

You communist! You love projectors too. It’s been 52 years since the former USSR launched Sputnik. In celebration of the fabulous designtastic shape of the Sputnik, and due to the meaning of Sputnik: “traveling companion,” this entertainment companion is sure to get your eyeballs and mind straight into outer space – tout de suite! It’s a projector with a cuteness!

R U Down W/ Fluorescent?

R U Down W/ Fluorescent?

The quest for the new fabulous lighting fixture continues. What have we got here? A spaceship named “Sputnik.” Our newest obsession Oliver Schick has this T-8 fluorescent tube pendant luminaire whipped up and ready to take on the 70′s today! In an effort to revitalize the “clunky” ringshaped tube of that Star Wars era, Schick creates this space-inspired hanging lamp to keep the “time-tested” lighting solution alive!

Spunky Sputnik

Spunky Sputnik

Fellow writer Shane, besides being a brilliant with words is an ID guy with a remarkable edge. His Sputnik LED Lamp and Storage Chest is reminiscent of the iconic satellite that went into orbit in 1957. The concept features 4 individual LED antennae that can pivot on a universal joint to allow it to both fill a space and fit into crevasses. The base area provides the storage and is weighted with the power adapter. It looks spunky and rocks back and forth like those push dolls, without actually tipping over.
