A Very Social Phone

A Very Social Phone

It was about time that someone came up with the concept of a phone that was dedicated to social networking. YD’s resident designer Shane Crozier is on top things and has his finger on the pulse. 31337 (Elite) Phone connects to Facebook and Twitter and hooks up to the contacts to fill up the address book. Usual suspects like camera, speakerphone, music, video and internet functionality have been removed for the sake of functional transparency and ease of use. This minimal phone is good for inbound and outbound calls!

Lighted Artwork On My Walls

Lighted Artwork On My Walls

The closest I ever got to needlepoint or patchwork was way back in school when I was forced to do it (for grades!). Looking at the Breathing Patchwork has stirred the artist in me to try out some artsy work in the name of innovation. Basically these modular light tiles are marriage between doing “family patchwork quilt and home-made stained glass windows.” Using your creativity, paint out images on the tiles (which look translucent during the day) and watch them to come to life in the evening thanks to the OLED emitter. Create the ultimate “stained glass” mosaic!

Spunky Sputnik

Spunky Sputnik

Fellow writer Shane, besides being a brilliant with words is an ID guy with a remarkable edge. His Sputnik LED Lamp and Storage Chest is reminiscent of the iconic satellite that went into orbit in 1957. The concept features 4 individual LED antennae that can pivot on a universal joint to allow it to both fill a space and fit into crevasses. The base area provides the storage and is weighted with the power adapter. It looks spunky and rocks back and forth like those push dolls, without actually tipping over.
