Mirror Mirror On The Wall

Those crazy fun house mirrors found in amusement parks use to scare me when I was a wee boy. I don’t know, something about my face and body looking all distorted. That don’t sit right with me. Ceramic Remote Control

Ceramic Remote Control

We often place little regard for out remote controls, that is until we lose them and go nuts trying to find them again. The idea behind the Ceramic Remote is when something is delicate, we place more value on it. Obviously since a ceramic remote would easily shatter if tossed around like a plastic one, we would be more careful. It also looks more like home decor when not in use instead of an off-limits chew toy for fido. Snazzy.

Interview With Yin Yang Furniture Designer Nicolas Thomkins

The graphic representation of Yin and Yang in the form of the Chinese Taiji symbol illustrates the dual principle of the Asian philosophy, according to which balance can only be obtained as harmony of opposing forces. The design of the Yin Yang chaise longue created by the Swiss designer Nicolas Thomkins draws on this philosophy and for that we interviewed him:

Big Foot Wheelchair

Big Foot Wheelchair

I really like this wheelchair design by Wai Lam. Made from form molded materials, the silhouette looks like a person sitting down. Wai Lam lights to make light of what many people view as detrimental by infusing a bit of humor into his designs. He also wanted to create something more organic and pleasing to the eye, not the usual chaos of metal clinging to the body. I’d say he did a good job.

LED Light Show In Water

LED Light Show In Water

This artsy design project by Seung-Jin Lee calls for a series of tubes embedded with LEDS floating right on the water’s surface. A computer controller experience then creates magical patterns of light. Okay, somebody like Bjork or Radiohead or Daft Punk needs to get on this ASAP. I can imagine amazing future concerts utilizing this technology.

Have It Both Ways

Have It Both Ways

Our living room changes as season changes. We add and remove objects from summer to winter to make our life more comfortable. Furniture can be part of the ritual: The WA chair is a two sided armchair designed to be used as furniture suitable for any season. The winter side is cozy and warm, made from a woolen textile. The summer side is a wooden frame with a light cotton textile stretched over it, inspired by a classic beach chair.
