Roll Up Your Bike

Roll Up Your Bike

Unlike existing folding bicycle designs that fold into a triangular shape, the Donut bike folds into a super-compact circle that leaves no component exposed. From the handlebars to the pedals, everything is safely tucked away and making it incredibly easy to tote around and store.

The Great River Turbine

The Great River Turbine

Michael Jantzen’s Great River Turbine is yet another hydroelectric power station that focuses on public outreach, allowing visitors to visit and witness first-hand the creation of clean energy. Situated on a moored barge, the turbine would automatically rise and fall with the water level and could be placed in most any river setting for pollution-free electricity.

Bouquet of Lights

Bouquet of Lights

A very close call on the illuminated incense sticks, the Callar wins grace for being the ideal representation of illuminated flower stems. A bunch of these would work wonders on any angry spouse or girlfriend, plus they’d make good mood lighting. The clever thing is that they are without wires and portable; they recharge via a base station. Warm and exuding love, I’d take home a bunch of these for next Valentines’!

OMG! I Love the Blue Facebook Phone!

OMG! I Love the Blue Facebook Phone!

Thank god I didn’t invest in the Facebook IPO. I’d much rather bet my money on a Bluephone….the Facebook! It looks interesting and boasts drool-worthy features. The sleek blue case is fashioned out of metal and it sports a 4.2-inch screen. The front hosts 5 – megapixel camera and an 8 – megapixel camera adorns the back. It juices up via induction charging using a dedicated dock. Of course all this is in the designer’s imagination, but who am I to complain! I can only imagine the customized hotkeys and impending chaos it will create in my online life. Yes, I await the FB Phone with eager enthusiasm!

Living Architecture

Living Architecture

The Turbine Bridge concept is a hydroelectric power station that also serves as a multifunctional space on Amsterdam’s Amstel River. On the main internal level there is space dedicated to pedestrian walkers and cyclists, cafes and stores while the upper level hosts terraces, playgrounds and spaces to relax. More than just a link between two sides of the river, the bridge aims to become a landmark where both locals and tourists can come together.

Linear Street Lamp

Linear Street Lamp

Designed for Bep’s Car & Motorcycle Accessories, the B-Light is a modern twist on the street lamp that is instantly recognizable in “traffic red.” Formed from a single, laser-cut metal sheet, the design consists of a straight line that folds in on itself, like the sinuous lines of light obtained by photographing moving cars at night. With a bright LED light that’s parallel to the ground it also does its best to minimize light pollution.

More than Meets the Eye

More than Meets the Eye

At first glance this design by Daniel Pearlman might look like another pretty coffee table, but take a closer look and you’ll see that it’s not just any old table. It’s a coffee table, chair, and side table cleverly disguised into one singular piece. A perfect design for small spaces, each piece looks and functions great on its own.

Urban Beehive

Urban Beehive

The reddot award winning Urban Beehive from Philips Design shows us that ant farms are obsolete and we should be gunning our attention on bees. The Urb is in line with the concept and makes beekeeping a ‘less daunting and more attractive process for novices.’ The biggest advantage is that you don’t need to adorn the protective garb when you handle the bin. You can observe the colony and use the technology implements to extract the honey easily.

A Dragon in the City

A Dragon in the City

This unorthodox structure, designed for Shangai’s city center, traverses over a man-made river and park system, serving as a peaceful landmark getaway for visitors and locals alike. The spiraling structure, named Sity, is ultramodern in approach, but was inspired by the ancient Chinese dragon. At once it is a striking beacon of the future and an instantaneously recognizable symbol of age-old tradition.

Coffee Machine by Coffee Lovers for Coffee Lovers

Coffee Machine by Coffee Lovers for Coffee Lovers

When coffee professionals meet over a cuppa brew, to discuss and design a machine that gives its users complete control in their brewing, the result is bound to be astounding. Nordic electrical appliance giant Wilfa, the team from Designit and award winning Barista, Tim Wendelboe, came up with this radically new idea called the Wilfa SVART Manuell.

Transfer Documents On The Go

Transfer Documents On The Go

U Transfer USB stick eliminates the need for using a computer as a medium to transfer information from one stick to another. It is equipped with a display that is hopefully a touchscreen, and has a slot at one end to hook up another stick. File transfers promise to be easy, and I can imagine myself using this stick at live blogging events.
