Outside-In Umbrella

Outside-In Umbrella

Umbrellas can be incredibly useful for keeping you dry… until you close it and the thing ends up soaking you itself because it’s wet! This clever twist of the classic form turns inside-out when you’re not using it, keeping the wet surface away so you stay dry when you make it in from the rain!

Time is Money

Time is Money

I’m not sure if we’ll see a universal currency in our lifetime, and if we do it will probably be in a digital form. Either way, hopefully it will be as thoughtful as this design, a literal interpretation of Benjamin Franklin’s famous phrase, “Time is Money.” Each coin and bill in the series represent a universally understood segment of time and serve as a reminder that time really is the most valuable commodity.

Headphones You Can Sleep In

Headphones You Can Sleep In

Finally- a headphone design so comfy you’ll barely feel them! The REM headphones feature an elongated shape that disperses pressure along the outer ear and can be custom fitted instantaneously by squeeze-pumping air into each soft, silicon piece. Even the squishy cord was designed to let the user wear the phones in comfort for extended amounts of time without soreness.

Personal Pod

Personal Pod

The only word that describes traffic aptly is: BAD! Try this, ask your friend, partner or just anyone who uses a car…’how’s the traffic’, and like a chorus you will get only one reply: B A D. So what is the solution, do we buy fewer cars or use only public transportation? The debate and perceptions are endless! Till we come up with something concrete lets think about personalized commuting, where a traveler uses individual pods. The Folding Electric Vehicle is what I’m talking about.

Smarter Handwash

Smarter Handwash

Given the current trend of adding electronics to our basic bathing needs like digital controls for the bathtubs and showers; it only makes sense to take it a step further and include it on fittings. Sma Wash is a digitalized faucet that dispenses soap and water in a very unique fashion. I love the play on design and how the water is expected to literally ‘fan’ out. To be honest, the whole touchscreen and automatic era is upon us to encourage cleaner loos and support the gadget freaks! Me included!

Personal Chef at Your Fingertips!

Personal Chef at Your Fingertips!

I love to cook, but am terrible at making a thorough grocery list. A lot of the products I buy end up going to waste because my recipes are incomplete! I happen to be the ideal candidate for a device like the Electrolux Sous-Chef Digital Tablet! It helps you find your recipes, automatically creates a list of the necessary groceries, and will even help you prepare the meal step-by-step!

A Phone for Happy Hands

A Phone for Happy Hands

Sure, everyone loves the look of a skinny cellphone, but if you’ve ever owned one then you know they’re not the most comfortable to hold and can even cause your hand to ache. The Smartphone TWO applies advanced ergonomics to its ultra-slim, minimal form. As comfortable as it is cool, the curved design nestles perfectly in the user’s hand but is still thin enough to fit in a pocket.

Lumo Reminds Us of Campfires

Lumo Reminds Us of Campfires

The delightful Lumo is based on the analogy of a traditional campfire. Tinly interactive pebbles flicker with light, mimicking the burning embers of logs. They gently fade out if you don’t play with them. Simon explains, “In the same way a fire requires fuel to sustain its illumination, the pebbles require collective nurturing from the group of users.”

Interactive and Modular Roofs

Interactive and Modular Roofs

Here is an interesting concept of modularizing the roofs of buildings. The idea stems from the fact that roof gardens have a uni-directional focus with little or no variations. Design Prototype Interactive Roof are pixilated units that perform a unique function and interact according to the living space below it.

Winter Inspired Lamp

Winter Inspired Lamp

The Snow Form Lamp by designer Young Kwang Cho was inspired by the unique way that snow collects as long ridges formed by the wind. Like the snowdrifts, the lamp has a soft, fluid aesthetic with gentle curves and sweeping lines. Simply push the top of the lamp down to activate the light.

Roll Up Your Bike

Roll Up Your Bike

Unlike existing folding bicycle designs that fold into a triangular shape, the Donut bike folds into a super-compact circle that leaves no component exposed. From the handlebars to the pedals, everything is safely tucked away and making it incredibly easy to tote around and store.
