Multifaceted Watch

Multifaceted Watch

This chrono watch by Alp Germaner is all about layers. Looking deep into the face, one notices that the gears, dial, hands, outer bezel, and date wheel create a multifaceted labyrinth of working components. Designed to be a top of the line sports watch, it’s as durable as it is intricate.

Better Music in Wood

Better Music in Wood

Tinka-tune takes a very different approach towards music creation. The design interface hopes to create an honest link between the user and music using low-technology and timeless mechanisms. As Phil explains, “The concept’s prototypes focus on designing a musical note with a resonant + adjustable tone, and a simple modular mounting system.” The final design imbibes an educational value of composing music with tactile feedback, aided with color-coordinated keys and a starter song booklet. At the end of the day you get innately creative and visceral musical experience.

Super Golf Trolley

Super Golf Trolley

I am not a golfer but been raised by golf enthusiasts who took me to the golf course at every given chance. So I understand the sacredness of a golf clubs, the caddy and even the golf bag! I’d like to dedicate this Tour Caddie – ProPod Golf Trolley to all the times I misunderstood ‘birdie’, ‘Calcutta’ and ‘eagle’. This unique monocoque motorized carry pod has been specifically designed for Mike Powell Design and features some great innovations.

Extreme E-Bike

Extreme E-Bike

The Roskva electric motorcycle is a fresh, thrilling concept… sure to engage the hearts of young motorcyclists and supermoto enthusiasts alike. The naked-style bike features sharp, angular bodywork, a monocoque carbon fiber chassis and an open, streamlined back end that’s made even cleaner as it lacks an exhaust. Powered by twin 94hp motors, the bike emulates the feel of a combustion engine bike and has state of the art chassis, suspension and brakes that many other e-bikes lack.

Iron and Silk Scarf

Iron and Silk Scarf

Primarily working with metal and light, artist Miya Ando created a unique process of permanently hand-dyeing anodized aluminum plate paintings. By applying the same technique to fabric, the designer yielded this beautiful, metallic, 100% silk chiffon scarf that, when draped, looks similar to liquid metal. It’s a modern work of art you can wear!

Love Origami? How About A Speaker!

Love Origami? How About A Speaker!

The Viva Speakers are inspired by origami and are extremely portable. Good enough to slip into your pocket! The docking speakers work well with the iPhone and other Android phones. It works with Bluetooth syncing as well. To open it to shape out as a cube, simply counter twist the top and bottom in one rhythmic swipe. Music beams out from all four sides creating an enigmatic surround system. The design uses empty spaces of the cube as a soundbox and it has a great quality of bass sound. I love the idea of teaming aluminum with chrome accents.

Prismatic Car

Prismatic Car

To quote designer Janina (love the name), “This car will act like a visual perfume.” Of all the descriptions for projects that I have come across, calling a vehicle ‘visual perfume’ has to be the first. However I do agree with Janina, the refractive effect of the car looks to be mesmerizing and poetic. Inspired by the prism, the car refracts and divides ‘white light’ into its DNA colors, red green and blue; to create a stunning illusion of colors. A set of wheels as flashy as this, who needs anything else on the autobahn!

A New Meaning to Seahorse

A New Meaning to Seahorse

I love the idea of exotic car brands crossing over into the uncharted territory of watercraft design, and this is one beautiful example. Inspired by the 458 Italia, the Ferrari Elegante speedboat has all the style, creative flair, passion, cutting-edge technology, and race-derived DNA that enthusiasts love about the brand with the prancing pony.

Modern Monolith

Modern Monolith

The idea behind Massimo Iosa Ghini’s Quattro Punti installation was the formation of a bond between legacy and modernity, tradition and innovation. The monolith itself is a distant but familiar fragment of ancestral typologies, but is contrasted by LED illumination that seems to materialize from inside to outside, bringing the structure to life.

Automatic Grill Light

Automatic Grill Light

This idea was born in a backyard and will leave you wondering, “why didn’t I think of that!?” – The GRILLIT light attaches to any outdoor grill to provide instant illumination to the cooking space each time the hood is opened. Simply slide and twist the barrel to direct light where needed. It’s a great “set it and forget it” solution!

BlackBerry with Windows?

BlackBerry with Windows?

How comfortable will you be with a Windows backed BlackBerry? Nothing is too radical these days and when foes become friends, the new relationship blossoms into something big and spectacular. Concept Smartphone pro Michal Bonikowski sent us his thoughts on a BlackBerry Smartphone hosting Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 platform. The design not only simplifies the BB but also makes it a more fluid interface with Windows. I like the approach but I don’t think this partnership is ever going to happen, but then, you never know!

Everyday Flash

Everyday Flash

The Apollo Flashlight is an attempt to blur the lines between a flashlight and a table lamp. Most often flashlights lead a sedentary life, forgotten in some obscure kitchen drawer. However giving it the meaningful life of a regular lamp, not only enhances its functionality but also gives it a dual purpose.
