Kick Stand And Lock!

Kick Stand And Lock!

Yup, that’s what you’ve literally got to do to lock your cycle, when you are using the Quick Stand & Lock, locking system. The locking system is integrated into the stand in such a way that all you need to do is park your bike, and as you kick it’s stand down, the number lock just gets into action. The clever thing even cuts you the step of actually chining up your cycle. Pretty clever if you ask me!

Bedside Beauty

Bedside Beauty

The simplistic Decale bedside table is a thoughtful design composed entirely of reclaimed beechwood and pine taken from used pallets. The construction is traditional in shape with slight differences in the angle (and color) of the legs that give it just a touch of modernity. Using repurposed wood means each table has a unique character with its own imperfections and subtle differences.

Blend, Baby, Blend!

Blend, Baby, Blend!

The FRXSH blender is refreshingly minimal compared to the many bulky, user-unfriendly designs out there. The remarkably small base is simple (even lacking a start button) and easy to use thanks to an automatic trigger mechanism that starts when the container is twisted in place. Focusing on verticality rather than beefiness, the design doesn’t take up a lot of counter space or intrude on the aesthetic of the kitchen.

Geometric Light Experiment

Geometric Light Experiment

Some lighting designs are all about minimal visual impact on the space in which they live and others, like the Dodeck light, are about filling space! The giant geometric structure that makes up the shade is composed entirely of wastepaper cardboard of a wide variety colors produced locally in Berlin. The individual parts are reduced to geometric basics that come together to form a unique crystalline centerpiece that also creates decorative patterns on ceilings and walls. Get it here!

Birds Have Better Homes Than We do

Birds Have Better Homes Than We do

Birdhouse by Ottawa based design firm The Federal is just another example of our avian friends living better than we do. Seriously, why are modern birdhouses so much more AWESOME? Matter of fact, what if someone scaled up a birdhouse, plumbed and wired it for human habitation? I’m down! I digress. Made of only two pieces of powder coated aluminum, wood and some leather string. Available soon. Guess some birds will be moving in this Spring.

Nicer Looking Track Lighting

Nicer Looking Track Lighting

The versatile Comet-3-Phase spotlight stands out among other generic track lighting systems with a modern, asymmetric design and high-end material. Made of powder-coated, die-cast aluminum with bicolor stainless steel accents, the series is available in a variety of colors and finishes. With a focus on making this style of lighting even easier to use, the design requires no tools to change out lamps or adjust positions.

Portable Coffee Beans

Portable Coffee Beans

Coffee Kong is an innovative way to get your coffee fix just about anywhere. You can be in a fancy hotel, a run down bus station or just catching up with friends at home. All you need is hot water and a couple of these sugar coated instant coffee compressed beans. Put in a couple of them (depending how strong you like your cuppa joe) and then get ready to sip on some delightful coffee. I’d love to try some Ahhaproject!

The Power Of A Family Huddle

The Power Of A Family Huddle

Battery.Family is a concept where one big mama battery houses other smaller sizes, making it easy for you to have Size D, Size C, Size AA and Size AAA in one nifty design. How practical is this concept at solving the needs of different battery sizes at one go, is yet to be seen. But what is evident is that the idea is worth pondering over. We have seen attempts in the past to have one battery fit all sizes, so lets add this to that list now.

Analog-ital Clock

Analog-ital Clock

ZEIT brings analog and digital together in a striking, minimal timepiece that’s sure to be the focal point of any wall. Embedded in the tip of each hand is an LED light that gives a subtle projection of the time in numbers directly on the wall. When the two hands are in line, time is reflected only on the minute hand to avoid blending the time displays.

Squishy Monster Fishy!

Squishy Monster Fishy!

I LOVE the story behind this wild chair – when designer Jason Goh would play with his food as a child (his favorite being fish balls), his grandma came up with a scary fish ball monster story to deter him. She said that if he kept playing the fish balls would turn into a big hairy monster and eat him up! Bringing the story to life, this monstrous Moyee  chair inspires play in kids and adults alike.

A Roadie's Wet Dream

A Roadie’s Wet Dream

Ask any band and they’ll tell you that getting their first touring trailer was a memorable experience. Having the right one is important… after all, you don’t want to be throwing $50,000 worth of instruments and equipment in the back of a horse trailer! This design, crafted especially for music tours, features a logical arrangement of compartments for various instrument types, making unloading and loading a much easier, quicker and methodical process.

Simple Muji Camera

Simple Muji Camera

The Ka-mu-ra is a concept based on Kanketsu, the idea of simplicity. When the brief was given to designer Forrest Radford, to design a camera for Muji, the obvious loophole was that Muji isn’t a very tech-centric company. So his first reaction was to creatively push the brand forward from where it currently is. Simple to use, the camera is off when closed and on when opened.

Sorri Chair, Wide Loads Welcome

Sorri Chair, Wide Loads Welcome

I am LOVING the Sorri Lounge Chair. When I say wide loads welcome, I don’t mean that in a condescending way. I’m serious. I love a wide chair, especially when it gently cups my butt. Not to mention it makes logical sense since there’s enough room to sit my bag next to me instead of on the floor. Ladies, can I get an amen? If you want one, WEWOOD is taking it into production. The chair will also be on display at Maison & Objet from the 18-22nd in Paris.
