Zip It Up

Zip It Up

The +zip Series includes the +zip_shoe and +zip_cap, two very interesting designs that solve real problems. Let’s talk about the +zip_shoe first. This clever sneaker design has a zipped space in the sole, which integrates a shoe bag. The design makes packing shoes in your suitcase much easier and of course adds a spring to your step!

The Men’s Only Toothbrush

The Men’s Only Toothbrush

The goal for designing the Braun Concept Electric Toothbrush was to clearly define and create a toothbrush that is targeted at men. Unisex designs in toothbrushes often tend to appeal to only one gender, so the task at hand was to see if a design could be created that identifies only with one gender. A look at this concept and it is clear that it’s a sexy men’s-only electric toothbrush! Mission accomplished!

The Last iPad Case You’ll Ever Need

Now here’s a design that makes you say “duh!” Anyone with an iPad knows the frustration of trying to prop it up to watch videos. You know you’ve piled up the pillows to try and keep it upright, but the moment you shift in bed it falls on its face. It’s a delicate balance! Until now… the Flux+Flap case not only protects your iPrecious, but makes it possible to get the perfect angle each time thanks to an internal system of magnets. Check out the vid to see it in action!

The Must-Have iPhone Fix

The Must-Have iPhone Fix

AUGMENT is a concept developed from frustration with protective phone cases and their incompatibility with basic fundamental accessories. (For instance, a user might find it difficult to dock the iPhone 5 or 5S with a case present.) This product family reimagines all the necessary peripherals to charge, dock, or rock out with headphones seamlessly without frustration of the case getting in the way. Until the next iPhone is released with a solution, it’s your one-stop-shop for getting all those accessories in order!

Battery Expansion

We have seen some really creative solutions and approach towards battery design. Add to the list this TransX, which is a battery module made with recycled card and copper. The beauty of the design is that it can transform a AAA battery into a larger battery.

For The Love Of Tea

For The Love Of Tea

Man and his perfect cuppa tea are often inseparable. The innate art of brewing tea and with a specific blend is almost like a traditional ritual in some cultures. Keeping with this essence we have here the O’cha, a mini tea-infuser that gives you an opportunity to make their tea on the go. According to Somi, the driving factor for the design and the size was to make the infuser fit comfortably into a standard bottle. Thus making it easily adaptable and portable.

Lambos for Your Legs

Lambos for Your Legs

Upon seeing Lamborghini’s wild Veneno concept, experienced shoe designer Jeremiah Obuobi felt compelled to design a shoe that embodied the same design language. The result is this wicked-looking runner that, like the Lambo, is focused on optimum aerodynamics and stability to achieve a equally dynamic experience when the wearer tackles the road on foot rather than by car.

e-Blast From the Past

e-Blast From the Past

This twist on the e-bike travels back in time to 1865, the year BASF was founded. This was also the time when the wooden “Dandy Horse” invented by Karl Drais was given its first pedals, and as velocipede launched the bicycle on the road to global success. As a tribute to this era of technology and invention, BASF and the DING3000 design studio have developed a velocipede with today’s state-of-the-art technology – including 24 high-performance plastics, specialty foams, epoxy resin and polyurethane materials from BASF.

Fiery Feast

Fiery Feast

The Volcano is a barbecue grill that is modeled on the unpredictable volcanic eruptions seen in mountains. The idea stemmed from the love of watching dancing flames on barbecues as they slowly cooked and grilled assorted food items and transformed them to yummy delicacies. Although a cumbersome process, people still go through the pains of setting up the grill and indulging in elaborate fares, hopefully the Volcano will make life easier for them all.

Guessing Game #18

Guessing Game #18

Probably the last Guessing Game for this year, so get cracking at it! What is this design? A hairband…or….

Today’s hint: The most important value in the number system is what we call it. However the absence of the obvious makes it possible for us to pose like The Thinker.

Wow I am good at riddles!

Flowering Fountain

Flowering Fountain

The Daffodil Fountain serves as both a sculptural element and refreshing water source in a variety of public spaces. The petal-inspired design functions as a drain for the water, but also creates a way to generate revenue. Made of cost-efficient fiberglass, the petals can be changed regularly to promote local artists or generate income from sponsored advertisers. Aside from having a positive aesthetic impact, the design is a hygienic way to quench your thirst, thanks to its activating foot pedals.
