City-Ready Citroen

City-Ready Citroen

The Citroen DS BiRotor merges the aesthetic attention to detail of top-end brands with the efficiency & economic sensibility of modern hybrid-drive vehicles. Laser headlights, AMOLED driver interface, carbon fiber everywhere, & a photosensitive polycarbonate roof/windows are just a few of the pros… but what sets it apart are the innovative tires which adapt to weather & driver demands by expanding & contracting to allow for water flow, increased traction, or higher efficiency. Hit the jump to see how it works!

Gift Of The Magi

Gift Of The Magi

The Gift Of The Magi is a great story involving love, combs and long tresses, which brings me to the product of the day – hairbrushes. We all own one, but how many of us actually sanitize ours on a regular basis? Right, not many! So how about a MagicComb; a very skillfully designed brush that winds up its bristles in such a way that all fallen, tangled hair come off easily!

Mamba Meets Samba

Mamba Meets Samba

Ok, that makes no sense but I like the ring to it! Anyways, here are two very cool and complimenting projects by our man Kévin Depape. One is the Mamba Lamp and the other is the Elastik Desk. While the Mamba plays on the on the archetype of a lamp by questioning its components; the Elastik revisits the traditional home desks while being inspired by the old classroom desks with storage on top.

This chair rocks!

This chair rocks!

Literally… Granny’s got mad steez in this sexy modern rocker! Characterized by it’s oversized curvilinear form, each part is hand-shaped and seamlessly bound to create a robust, sinuous aesthetic. To soften things up, the design features a blanket adapted to cover the back and seat for cushioning and specialized side flaps that wrap over the user’s lap for comfort and warmth.

Something doesn't seem right here....

Something doesn’t seem right here….

… but that’s the intention! The Equilibrium collection by Andre Cruz has a simplistic, utilitarian aesthetic that is given a sense of lightness and clever character with oddly placed legs. The bulk of each design appears to be supported by just a tiny edge of each leg, creating a striking visual sensation, but in actuality it’s a hidden metal support that stabilizes each corner. The unique construction allows for interesting geometries and angular accents that contrast with the bare upper portions.

U-Plug

U-Plug

The U-Plug aims to enhance the functionality of the electrical plug by reducing the overall number of parts while maintaining safety and ease of use. Besides flexing to fit a variety of outlets, the universally adaptable design also doubles as a socket for another like-plug and provides a safer, tactile grip that can be unplugged with a single finger. Less parts means it’s also cheaper to produce and replace!

Sexy City-Pod

Sexy City-Pod

The single-axle Honda type E concept uses similar physical principles as a segway for maximum maneuverability in the urban jungle. The ultrasmall vehicle focuses on minimum space consumption, maximum driver visibility, easy access, high efficiency, and, most importantly, driving dynamics that make it capable of turning 360 on the spot. It’s got a far-out aesthetic, but it’s really not all that unrealistic from what we’ll probably see not-so-distant future.

A Literal Dry-clean

A Literal Dry-clean

The Smart Hanger is a portable garment care device shaped that doubles up as a drycleaner. Other than saving you a trip to a laundry on a busy morning or exhausted night, volatilized air air-washes off unpleasant smells and kills clothing germs and molds without causing any damage to clothes. Ideal for suits, dresses, uniforms or outdoor jackets that are difficult to wash at home, Smart Hanger offers an instant cleaning option.

Flash And Fire-free

Flash And Fire-free

The Extinguisher For Black Out is a design that integrates a flashlight and fire extinguisher into the same body. I think the idea is superb; in an emergency, especially during a fire evacuation, you will need a flashlight and an extinguisher! In any case the flashlight is detachable, so this design makes complete sense. What do you think?

Low-Tech Timepiece

Low-Tech Timepiece

The beautiful and simplistic OWO watch features a minimal face with white hands against a pure white background. Hard to see the time right? Wrong! Simply shake the watch and iron particles will stick to the magnetic hands making the hour and minutes visible. The thoughtful design encourages interaction and lets the user control their awareness of the hour rather than feel rushed and distracted by ticking hands.

Hooks and More Hooks

Hooks and More Hooks

A metal rod, steel base and 19 winding hooks are all that compose the Hook Up hanger stand. Its simplicity and size make it a great for a variety of spaces small and large, from the bathroom to the foyer. 19 is kind of an odd number to land on, but I can definitely think of that many uses!  Utilitarian design at its best.

Power Surge Benefits

Power Surge Benefits

Here is an idea built up on the premise of harnessing the heat given off fluorescent lighting and using it to charge our gadgets and devices. The emission of heat is a waste by product from electricity. This Heat-electricity Conversion Storage Device uses a thermoelectric conversion material to transfer and then store electricity from heat waste. Its sharp, stylish design and the application of heat-resistant material are also a unique highlight.
