Ever find yourself writing out your grocery list for the week and thought, “gee, I bet this grocery list would make a really cool song..”? Well, it actually might be a better song than some of the total crap that is flying around the corporate owned FM airwaves. Yamaha, the makers of dirt bikes, boats and musical instruments, have decided that your sketch book could really use some ebony and ivory.

This reminds me of one of those LED blinking clocks that magically suspend time in mid air when really it’s the speed of the oscillating arm creating the illusion. Apply that same process to a jump rope and you’ve got Jumplay. Every jump and skip is recorded. This can both be a good and bad thing since I have no jump rope skills. The counter would literally stall at 10 because that’s all I can do.

Ticketime is a boarding card and a wristwatch all in one. The fringe of the ticket is made of electronic paper that could be torn off and worn as a wristwatch during the period of your travel. Before your departure, the airline company would preset the watch to the time zone of your destination. It is returned to the airline counter during your check-in upon your return flight, whilst still serving the purpose of a flight ticket.

Who says protecting yourself from sniper attacks or chemical warfare needs to be ugly business? Certainly not Dutch designer Tim Smit. His “Urban Security Suit” will be all the rage in a war zone near you. Made of stylish neoprene and strategically lined with body molded kevlar, this runway show stopper will be THE must have accessory for your next war, skirmish, struggle, conflict, combat zone or civil strife you find yourself in or starting. Diabetics have it pretty rough. Aside from the constant life threatening condition, seriously restricted diets and painful monitoring of glucose levels in their blood, diabetics often have to suffer the indignity of carrying around some seriously ugly industrial design. Taking monitoring and treatment systems into his own hands, designer Sascha Morawetz has created this pair of Diabetic tools that should alleviate some of the pain and shame usually associated with this illness.

Yep, this is exactly what you think it is. The forest fire prevention robot by Jordan Guelde is an advanced robot designed to clear large areas of foliage from around a forest fire to help stop the flames from spreading. Traditional back burning would certainly be cheaper and possibly less lethal to surrounding wildlife, but complete with and array of hubless motors, and integrated fuel system of its back this robot is a hell of a lot cooler.

Fashion and technology have been dancing with each other for years now. Sadly, it’s not been the kind of dancing you see in movies where everyone seems to know when to pop-n-lock and bust out the serious Justin Timberlake moves, that eventually ends in a triumphant “tada!” with hands lifted in the air.

With everything turning towards technology, we have adapted the out with the old, in with the new mentality. Designer Kyle Bean has created a design that illustrates the issues with “technology and the Internet, and the effect it is having on the way we source information”. We are becoming a society that is more virtual.

We often think of a universal remote to be a device that controls any and everything. The Mulit-Chalk one-ups that axiom by controlling everywhere. Huh, what?!? It’s a soft electronic device designed to slip on anything with a button.

Today in Milan Samsung Electronics and Giorgio Armani unveiled the new Armani/Samsung LCD TV with 100Hz Full HD. A 46-inch TV will be launched initially in Europe, Korea and Russia in mid-summer, and a 52-inch will be available soon after. Unique design elements include a stylish remote control and a special 4-mode lighted power switch that customizes the display of the two companies’ logos on the front of the television.
