So like the Danish have like this totally cool new school. OMG, I’m so jealous! It’s like all built around this super sweet open area that can be seen from almost every floor. The floors are like these stacked up boomerang thingys. It’s sooo cool, it’s like a big mall. Oh and they have these super sweet orange pillows for people to just chill on or myspace till your fingers bleed or totally spy on Stephanie.

Londoners walking along the Thames River near Potter’s Field have a new treat waiting for them, stacks of charred wood. Along with their usual mochachinos, pack of fags (no angry emails, that means cigarettes in the UK) and a copy of The Mirror, the Queen’s subjects are treated with the latest creations from architects DSDHA. “Pavilions” are a pair of distinctively designed multi-purpose kiosks.

Interesting things happen when architects are hand-cuffed guided by local restrictions and client’s desires. A custom home design more often than not will look like a watered-down version of an original idea that might have stood for something spectacular if not ultimately designed by committee. This F-117 Stealth Fighter inspired house in Kronberg, Germany, is very much the exception to this rule.

Some Chinese Christians have faith that Jesus might give his blessing to this accordion harkening church designed by Architect GMP. Serving as China’s largest Christian church, with repeating vertical lines reaching to the heavens, the architects have created an open and bright space that reflects their client’s openness and belief in their state of enlightenment.

I don’t usually like to question anyone’s artistic expressions on any level, but I think flying into Wellington International Airport in New Zealand is about to get a little nutty. Festering on the tarmac will be what appears to be a pair of giant crushed walnuts waiting to welcome you to Middle Earth(Lord of the Rings reference…try to keep up.)

Parking lots are a sometime necessary blight of urban landscapes and a cheap way for landowners to generate income with minimal financial commitment. That being the case, there are more parking lots in some areas than needed and much of this real estate goes mostly unused. Enter London based Architect Tim Pyne. He has conceptualized a practical and stylish apart-hotel design for all those empty lots that is both profitable for the land owners and environmentally responsible.

Looking like a hidden rebel alliance base on a distant planet, this cultural center in Santo Domingo, Colombia, is what I envision the real future of post-apocalyptic architecture to look like. Architect Giancarlo Mazzanti dispenses with the obtrusive and predictable rearrangements of glass, steal and concrete phallic references with this organically inspired beacon of grounded, yet ethereal modernity.

Forty percent of the world´s energy is used by buildings. More than fifty percent of the greenhouse gases come from buildings and the construction industry. Mexican architectural firm, ReCURSO Studios, has these eye opening environmental facts well understood when they set out to design this modern showcase of low impact, sustainable architecture.

Liverpudlians (people from Liverpool, England) have stepped away from their industrial based origins and have more to be proud about than simply being the birthplace of the Beatles. So proud are they of their docks along the River Mersey, harbor and skyline, the city has commissioned the design of a public observatory. The Mersey Observatory will be a coastal beacon with panoramic views of the entire Liverpool Bay.
