Inspired by a flowering tree, this powder-coated steel hook is both a beautiful piece of sculpture and a useful means of organizing all of those scarves, hats, and coats on the wall. Tree Hooked is modular and can be displayed vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. It’s also exceptionally easy to install. The display possibilities are limitless–branch out! Each hook is 22” and comes in black, white, or matte silver. Other colors will follow soon.

Tree Hooked is also the first product to come from the creative and matrimonial union of Dutch designers Alissia Melka-Teichroew and Jan Habraken. Both have their own successful design studios: Alissia runs BY:AMT and Jan is a partner in WATdesign. Their work has been shown separately in design shows like the Salone del Mobile Milano and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, and sold in savvy boutiques around the world.

Alissia and Jan saw a professional collaboration as a way to celebrate their 2006 marriage and subsequent decision to move to Brooklyn, New York. From a metaphorical perspective, a tree inspired product is the perfect solution. After all, marriage is the bringing together of two family trees. Trees also symbolize stability, growth, and renewal.

The origin of the concept came from a coat hanging knobs that Jan and Alissia had spotted in Paris. In Alissia’s words, they thought that they could “build upon the idea.” In Jan’s words, “we wanted a simple product that would be universally understood but also flexible enough for people to use in their own unique way.”
