Tree-Inspired Train Station

This winning underground train station proposal was inspired by a predominating staple of the Israeli landscape- the Ficus Microcarpa tree. To imitate the ambiance provided by the ficus in the outside world, the design allows plenty of natural light to fall on the trees planted in the underground station. In addition, features like the steel piping on the deck were designed to replicate the robust trunk that is a signature of the tree. Stepping foot in this station, you’ll feel like you never left outside.

Floating Island on the Move

The Solar Floating Resort is an example of what the distant future might hold when it comes to architecture, our reliance on renewable resources, and dealing with overpopulation on land. Covered completely in a photovoltaic skin, the resort is 100% self-sufficient and non-polluting.  On top of that, the floating palace is actually a modular system that divides into much smaller components that can be moved and assembled almost anywhere.

This Segway style vehicle takes the 2-wheeler a step further in the form of a multifunctional transportation pod built for 2. Balanced on a movable joint arm, the Ayhanz Segway can be lowered for speed, linked with other vehicles of its type & even move like a roller coaster hanging from rails! Balancing futurism with realistic functionality, the design takes into account the space saving requirements we can expect in the future, & is a keen look at what urban transportation might really look & behave like.

Did you see that hypersonic aircraft that deteriorated mid-air this week? This concept by Sheng-Hung Lee uses similar arrowhead shape but actually looks a lot more stable! The single-person craft is the designer’s take on what ultrafast “sport” spacecraft might look like in the future. Let’s just hope the skin doesn’t fly off. Marina Living Done Right

Not so much a yacht as it is a floating home, the Rieul-Useful provides luxurious accommodations from the comfort of the marina. The second floor consists of two bedrooms, an entertainment lounge and complete kitchen but the really special part is what’s underneath- the S-shaped design features a private dock on the first floor with space for a single hull yacht up to 15m long, giving yacht owners access to their own private amenities versus sharing facilities with a large yacht community.

Urban Origami Bike

The Rollin’ bike design focuses on two of important features helpful to the urban commuter: a stylish, super-lightweight body and a stationary lock integrated into the frame. The frame, which takes more inspiration from contemporary interior design than sporting design, is laser cut from a single sheet of aluminum that has been folded for added stability. The integrated lock is an easy and accessible way to ensure the bike will never go without protection from theft.

The Velo Chic cycle aims to reach the untapped market of female riders by providing easy-to-use, lightweight transportation with a cutesy retro aesthetic. Collapsible handlebars & a folding center hinge make it super storage-friendly to fit into a small corner, closet, or car trunk. The two-layer basket design gives users extra space to carry small loads like groceries or shopping bags. On top of all that, the bike has electric power assistance, making it a great urban bike with a subtle touch of femininity.

You can even throw it in the washer when it gets dirty. So simple it makes you wonder “why didn’t I think of that!?”

Opel Boomerang Bike

The RAD e builds a bridge from the automaker Opel’s origins in bicycle manufacturing to its current position as the transportation producer of the future. The RAD e is the first e-bike designed around automotive production methods. It is made of hollow pressed-steel which is light, strong, flexible and easy to make. The pedelec drive of the RAD e is based on a state-of-the-art 250 Watt electric motor, powered by a lithium-ion battery. It provides an electrically-assisted range of 60 to 140 km, depending on the terrain.

A prime example of sophisticated design, the Amare looks like a luxury toy straight out of a James Bond flick. Stunning wood accents are met with polished handles, steering wheel, knobs and other fixtures in rich detail to create an elegant yet masculine aesthetic.
