We sighted people take for granted how much easier we have it. Even the most basic necessities in life like telling time are an after thought since it’s common and comes naturally. Where does that leave people with vision problems? Designer Arnaud Lapierre (love the name) designed a prototype watch in conjunction with Swatch. The end result is a double ring ceramic device that tells time by touch called Sens.

OMG it’s an electronic gadget that doesn’t start with an “i”! Brownie points to designer Rong Yong. His U-Jade concept is a device that communicates the location and path of other U-Jade equipped vehicles. This help you drive smarter, choosing routes that might be less busy. The device itself looks like a piece of Chinese jade jewelry cut into the classic shape that symbolizes security.

Right now the in thing with notebook computers are clean lines, and minimal design features. The Purity Notebook takes that to the extreme but manages to throw in a few of its own unique touches like the high lacquer finish. Nevermind the very Macbook Pro-like keyboard, it’s for the Windows crowd.

Dimple challenges the conventional “human touch” technology by grafting subconscious instinctive human behavior onto technology. In the pursuit of designing a sensitive feedback for the human senses, we designed an intricate form of a dimpled depression, creating an almost unconscious but sensual occurrence of human nature to reach out for a unique element that titillates the fingertips subtly.

Morbid I know but there’s some genius in it. This product was designed from the core to shock the smoker and make him/her think twice before lighting up.

TimeCap came out of the need to update burial rituals to the 21st century. Instead of placing someone’s ashes inside an urn, a small USB device holds photos, sound bytes, videos, and any other type of digital media. The device is small enough to wear around your neck and since it’s flash memory based, should last a lifetime if not more.

Since notebooks tend to go for sleek and shiny, here’s an alternative for all you traditionalists out there. The S-series notebook concept is made of wood. Yes that’s right, WOOD. Nevermind the weight and horrible heat insulation characteristics of the material, it’s supposed to look refined and sexy, at which it does.

Here’s a novel concept. It’s a flashlight inspired multimedia player. You control the device by rotating knobs along the barrel. The key feature here is the ability to project your interface, pictures, and movies onto a wall in lieu of a built in screen. The design also comes with a set of matching wireless ear buds and a dock with built in speakers.

Having to manually minimize windows before you leave your computer is taxing. Yes it only takes a few seconds to do but we live in a time of NOW NOW NOW. There must be an easier way.
The Security Ring slips over your finger and looks mighty snazzy too. The base stays next to your computer. When you move more than a user set distance away from it, the computer locks down.
