My family travels a lot by car and I think I have seen more than half of my country on my numerous road trips. Mostly all the journeys go on without any hitch, except when we have to stop and ask for directions. Look, I’m willing to be reasonable about a man and his ego regards to asking for directions in your HOME CITY, but in a strange town! Come on man, pull over at the curb and ask someone for DIRECTIONS, you’ll get to the destination faster! Noooo? Then the GPS PathQuest it is!

Projectors Galore

Projectors, projectors, here and there, projectors, projectors, projecting on everywhere. According to Gareth Marples, the first conceptual drawing of a projector was done in 1420 by Johannes de Fontana: a drawing of a monk with a lamp projecting a vision of a devil holding a lance. Truly a lovely first ideation it was. In this post we use two brand new concept projectors, top prize winners at a recent Philips design competition, to open the door to Yanko’s full collection of projector concepts.

Where’s The HotSpot?

An imperative question when you are looking for some free internet access! I have a device for you here, that will turn you into the Water Witch, HotSpot Witch! Divina detects WiFi spots and allows you to expand the network by amplifying the signal thanks to the built-in hi-range sensors. The form of Divina is clearly inspired by the magical stick that Dowsers use. My only request, don’t go as crazy as them in the middle of the airport when you detect strong WiFi signals!

This Ornate Scroll Is A Gadget

It’s inlayed with some mother-of-pearl work and looks like the Korean ‘Najawnchilgi’ lacquer ware craft, but Gyo-Ji is actually a translation device. Compared to the ViewTrans that we saw recently, this scroll features a rolled-up screen and allows you to write the foreign script directly onto it for translation. Another way of getting the job done is to place the screen on the foreign script and then hit the translation button. At this rate I think translation dictionaries and handbooks will soon be redundant.

Apple Ate My Mouse

I think very few people have ventured into concepts regarding the mouse let alone an Apple Mouse. So naturally when I came across this slim-trim device I was tempted to prod further. Besides looking AWSOME, the Apple Slim Mouse packs in Bluetooth and switches between trackball (400dpi) and laser (1600dpi) with a micro adjustment. Smooth sailing is what you get, and the options of aluminum or plastic finishes. BTW, I wonder why would anyone want to design a trackball mouse in this day and age!

Every time I have to do a Mac post I get butterflies in my stomach, coz you guys laud him too much or pan him badly! Either ways, I’m a big fan of concepts, hence here we go again. On the platter is the iAcqua iPhone Dock with a transparent touch screen, speakers and a projector. Place your phone on the top slot and tilt it slowly to either side (like a faucet) to access your photos, songs or movies. Amazingly all the icon images cascade down randomly like the flow of water. Touch a particular icon (before it disappears) to access it.

Hey YDers, this NVISIBLE TOUCH – IT Universal Remote Control concept is a very tricky proposition. If something like this were to hit the stands, then either we women would lose our “who owns the remote control” battle to our men OR we could use it effectively to get chores done. Go on woman; hide it till he doesn’t do the dishes! Invisible, shiny, emotional, intuitive, personalized settings, interactive, touch sensitive, ah…the list goes on…we’re sure to lose this battle!

I Can Read Your Language

YD is a melting pot of varied cultures; we have Asians, Americans, Australians and British in our group. Luckily we all use English otherwise can you fathom the commotion if we all mailed in our respective mother tongues! Funny as it may sound now, language barrier can pose a problem when we can’t communicate effectively with locals on a trip abroad. For vegetarian like me, ordering a chicken dish out of a Chinese language menu would be awful! I’d need something like the ViewTrans to help me out.

Pen Is Not My Friend

Keyboard and Words are my friends and we often play hide-and-seek when I do my posts. They either hide behind Mr. Wrong Spellings or screen behind Ms. Metal Block’s skirt. At such moments I turn to my other pal Mr. Mouse for some help. A right click, scrolling and some serious threatening and pesto they come out of hiding! All this fun is missed when I’m forced to use pen and paper! Wait a minute IDEA tells me they gotta Dictionary Pen for me that’s equally fun…hmmm…interesting!
