I didn’t think an iPhone could get pimped up any further, how wrong was I? What we have here is a “modding” option for the iPhone. Modding is replacing the back-side of the iPhone and replacing it with a back that adds the apple to glow, creating a similarity between the mac and the iPhone. Made in Russia, I sure hope that this awesome option is available for purchase in the western world sometime soon.
Here’s another mobile projector phone concept but this one is a bit more thought out, tho not without its problems. It offers portability and the communications functions of a mobile phone with a projector to support a new lifestyle.

Why bother with one screen when you can have two for probably double the price? Designer Andy Kurovets presents his “Bend Mobile” concept. He thinks turning on a device and having it grow to nearly double its size will really be attractive to some people. He may be right but where is the proof? Oh right, he is also including a high capacity digital camera that also pops out to larger than expected proportions.

That green bandwagon is speeding down the global highway at break neck speeds and corporations are rushing to hop on. That’s the good news… the other good news is that electronics giant Siemens is looking for ways to make bold and beautiful green statements with these cordless telephone designs.

It is probably the single most touched item in your daily arsenal. Our mobile phones are our lifelines and the closest thing to an adult security blanket we have. With all this daily interaction with a device, mobile phone makers are constantly looking for new ways of creating an even tighter emotional bond with your phone. One of the first things we think of (mostly subconsciously) when picking out a new mobile phone, is how it feels in your hands.

Like many places, California implemented a new law prohibiting cellular use without a handsfree device while driving. Ironically that’s when Jawbone contacted me to do a review on their second generation bluetooth headset. Same aesthetic but significantly smaller, lighter, and improved sound quality. What more could one ask for?

Opus Dei has been needing a mobile phone to call their very own since the demise of the Knights Templar. If only designer Marc Schömann was catholic and lived 600 years ago, this baton style mobile phone might have saved them from a Dan Brown style disaster. This phone called “_______” (yup, it has no name) uses haptic technology to provide physical feedback for making a call.

Since Apple’s iPhone was such a runaway success, the entire mobile phone industry has been playing catch-up with the pocket wonder. Jonathan Ive’s (Apple’s Chief of Design) minimal flat black screen design has instantly become a gadget icon and seems to be the inevitable future of mobile phone designs for everyone looking to grab market share. The problem with this design direction is the very limited aesthetic potential.

You’ll find no iPhone touchscreen or 10 megapixel camera here. Nor will you find mirror finishes or a graphic interface spec’d for stunning video. What you WILL find is car tires, old PET bottles and pre loved soda cans.

Seeing is not always believing as mobile phones go. It’s all about the screen and how much info can be managed through the screen. But for the blind or mostly blind of the world, little thought has gone into making a phone that helps them in their journey through life. The “Sens” phone by Takumi Yoshida is a great idea who’s time has come. For the nearly blind, this phone features lighted sides that help convey different alert messages.

Well the second coming has finally arrived. The brand new iPhone version 2.0 was just announced by the master of marketing Mr. Steve Jobs. What is so “new” about the new iPhone? Here are the basic relevant features for your average user:
- 3G Network Compatibility (This means much, much faster internet access. A very needed update.)
Check out the Eclipse Intuit Phone by Eddie Goh. It’s got all the basic stuff we’ve come to expect from our mobiles; powerful 5 megapixel camera with built-in software for editing and uploading to a photo album, slide-out touch keyboard with tactile feedback, and a nice big touchscreen front and center. What makes this concept unique is parts of the phone are made from a chemically based thin solar skin to charge the battery when exposed to any kind of light.

Candy bars, flips, bricks, diamonds – phones come in a myriad of monikers but a common denominator are their form factors. For the most part they’re designed to be pocketable. You can throw all those expectations out the window because designer Tamer Koseli wants no part of it. His NEED Phone is probably the longest mobile phone concept we’ve seen.
