Really Really Dry Pair Of Gumboots

Being a hardcore Urbanite, I don’t think I really appreciate the need for really dry shoes. Not that it doesn’t rain in my city; we do get our fair share of monsoons, but it’s just that I can’t fathom the need for a specialized drier for my shoes. On the other hand folks who tend to spend much time outdoors (like farmers) and work in damp environments would really value the Windry Boot Drier. This device works by directing air into the boot, accelerating the evaporation of moisture, thus drying the gumboots pronto.

Zaha Hadid Created This Hot Mess

I’ll keep this straight forward. This shoe is the result from a collaboration between renowned architect Zaha Hadid and Brazilian fashion label Melissa. As with any Zaha Hadid design, the sweeping conundrums are rightly apparent and I hate it. It took Hadid 2 years to come up with this? I’m aware those organic arcs hug the foot perfectly but whenever architects try to create fashion, they birth deconstructive genius like Rae Kawakubo or total disasters like this concoction.

Rugged High-heels

Any fashionista knows expensive heels and water do not go together. If durability weren’t such an issue, I’m sure you’d rock those blahniks daily. SWIMS, a Scandinavian company known for making stylish galoshes just released the City Slipper high heel.  Like the other SWIMS products, the design of the City Slipper is simple and beautiful and in line with company’s Scandanavian heritage. In addition, the design incorporates lots of great details both for practical and aesthetic reasons.

Save the Studs

No we are not talking about saving horny horses or Richard Gere circa 1980. “Cleatskins” are basically Crocs with a friggin’ purpose other than to offend those with taste. Intended as a quick slip on protector for athletic shoes used in football, futball, baseball and golf. Greatly extending the lifespan of the spikes, cleats or studs found on the bottom of all these shoes.

Walk like a Switzerlander

WENGER - makers of the Swiss Army Knife brand have expanded once into many arenas including time pieces, apparel, home cutlery and luggage. Well they added one more tool to their multi-functional portfolio. Their new line of casual/athletic shoes just might turn out to be a new addition to my lust list. Their first few designs are sleek, minimal and tastefully adorned with the Swiss Army logo. Hard to stay neutral over.

What is it about high heels that make women weak in the knees (other than it makes women literally weak in the knees)? Oh right, I remember now, high heels are HOT! So what is a girl to do when she leaves with her office in boring flats and wants to show off her stems? Get herself up to speed with this adjustable heel shoes called “Goodie 2 Shoes” by designer Natalie Thorne.

Reebok Maeda Struccess

In their first collaboration, Maeda designed the Timetanium which was inspired by Time. His second design, the Emoretion, drew from Emotion.  His newest design, the Struccess, comes from Law #9: Failure.  Maeda says, “if you fail, keep trying – struggle to reach some form of success.”

Sneakskin is a type of sticker film that you can apply to shoes like an ordinary sticker and it will flex and move as though part of the leather.

Shoe Headlights

The title of this post says it all, headlights on your shoe. Pioneer is a concept shoe that coverts kinetic walking energy into electrical energy. There’s a tiny battery that charges up with each step and can keep the headlights on for a full 12 hours straight dispersing light at 1.5 meters.

Flat Folded Shoe Is Like Easy Origami

The EIN/TRITT shoe concepts shows how modern technology can take shoe manufacturing to the next paradigm. Flat shoe patterns with reinforced parts get folded and fixed by the consumer. Production and shipping costs are significantly reduced. From an aesthetic point of view, it has a very geometric and architectural form that’ll definitely grab you some attention. I wonder what Nike or Adidas could do with this technology.

Disposable Soles

Some people like it barefoot, some like house slippers. For those that fall in the latter check out these Disposable Soles by Jun-Soo Choi.  They come in a stand premade sticky. Just step on it and you’re off. Supposedly it’s a good way of maintaining hygiene and protects your feet.
