Don't Call it a Bean Bag, SumoSac Review

Don’t Call it a Bean Bag, SumoSac Review

Around this time last year we reviewed the Sumo Omni Lounge. It’s still in the office and despite being subjected to people instinctually wanting to run and “cannonball” on it, it has held up well. We recently had a chance to try out Sumolounge’s new and expanded product line, namely the SumoSac. In short, everything has been vastly improved. Tho the original Sumo Omni used “beads” and retained a beanbag-like consistency, the SumoSac is totally different. It opts for batting. Hit the jump for our review.

One Size Fits All, Herman Miller Embody Review

One Size Fits All, Herman Miller Embody Review

Over the past decade and a half Herman Miller has firmly established itself “the” company to go to with all your seating needs. The original Aeron Chair came to symbolize the dot com era. Any and everyone had to have one in office to be certified “cool.” The mesh design, fully adjustable design, and 3 sizes to choose from made it one of a kind. Flash forward 15 years and they’re set to do it again with the new Embody chair taking the one size fits all ethos by further improving a number of adjustable features.

Carbon Fiber Purisme Letter Opener Review

Carbon Fiber Purisme Letter Opener Review

Pure luxe, that’s how I’m going to start off this review. Carbon fiber is a favorite material of ours here at Yanko Design as seen in much of branding collateral. Woven carbon set in epoxy -that’s all it is yet quality is dictated by a level of craftsmanship normally reserved for one of a kind products. We got our hands on the Purisme Carbon Fiber Letter Opener by designer Mario Zeppetzauer. It’s an expensive proposition for opening envelopes but one every dapper individual must own. I am smitten.

Rest Your Bum Here, Perfect Perch Review

Rest Your Bum Here, Perfect Perch Review

Great ideas often are simple executions. The Perfect Perch by James Chu is one of those ideas. Originally conceived as affordable seating for college students, the Perfect Perch has grown to become so much more. After the initial reaction of realizing “it’s just cardboard,” it’s become quite useful in the most unexpected situations.

A Very Shiny MacBook Pro Review, Quickstyle

A Very Shiny MacBook Pro Review, Quickstyle

Apple’s top of the line professional, portable workhorse was finally updated. Gone is the all aluminum, silver keyed lappie that set that standard for so many companies to follow. Enter a new design carrying over Apple’s current design aesthetic – silver, black, and glass. Because there are already 101+ reviews about the new Apple MacBook Pro, I’ll keep ours succinct. Here’s the Yanko Design MPB (as I’ll refer to it from now on) review, quickstyle.

I Got a Knuckle Duster For Ya

I Got a Knuckle Duster For Ya

For serious tho, isn’t this the sweetest mug you’ve ever seen?!?! It’s aptly called MUG! by the lads at Thabto. I saw a picture of it somewhere and tracked down the company for a review. They graciously sent me one and I’ve been drinking knuckle duster teas and staring daggers at everyone in my office. Thankfully people find it amusing and it’s become quite the conversation piece.

It has Feet! Stand Umbrella Review

It has Feet! Stand Umbrella Review

We received so many page views and comments about Tsuboi’s Stand Umbrella, we thought high time to review it. 100% was gracious enough to send us one and it’s probably the classiest, cutest umbrella I’ve seen. Class and uber cuteness – is that even possible?

Must Run with the Beat, Yamaha BodiBeat Review

Must Run with the Beat, Yamaha BodiBeat Review

Runners know music can provide that extra oomph to make that last mile. The right music can relax us, put us to sleep, or heal us, so it makes sense it can also energize us. The Yamaha BodiBeat is part DJ, part heart monitor, and part trainer to keep you at your peak performance during workouts. Armed with new running sneakers and a snazzy outfit, I strapped the BodiBeat onto my arm and took to the Los Angeles jungle. My review after the jump.

Grocery Bag Chic, Moukisac Review

Grocery Bag Chic, Moukisac Review

Walk into any supermarket today and you’ll see a new trend. People are bringing their own shopping bags. With plastic bags labeled as the evil accomplice to the environmental problem, a number of companies have taken it upon themselves to design grocery bags durable enough for hauling while remaining questionably stylish. After all, being “green” is now a message people want to project so shopping bags have had to evolve into accessories. I’ve been using the Moukisac shopping bag for the past few months and it promises utilitarian chic.

Protecting your iPhone, invisibleSHIELD Review

Protecting your iPhone, invisibleSHIELD Review

If you’re one of the 10 million people with an iPhone then you understand there’s a huge market for protective covers and cases for it. Even the tiniest scratch somehow totally ruins Apple’s minimal aesthetic. Most people opt for cases for full protection but that defeats the purpose since the iPhone was meant to be seen. There are protective films but each manufacturer’s quality is questionable. So who’s to trust? I tried out the ZAGG invisibleSHIELD and came away impressed but not without some marring issues.

For the Playboy with Everything, Porsche Design P'9120 Review.

For the Playboy with Everything, Porsche Design P’9120 Review.

Move over cheap radio alarm clock because for the past month I’ve been trying out the Etón P’9120 designed by the venerable Porsche Design company – yes the same one that makes those uber sexy cars. If music is your ace then you’ll be happy to know it handles nearly all digital delivery forms, including docking up with your iPod, Touch, and iPhone, radio, and integrated XM satellite. There’s even a built-in subwoofer and of course, 2 separate alarms because you never wake up on the first alarm.

Hair Love Thanks to Remington Shine, A Hot Review

Hair Love Thanks to Remington Shine, A Hot Review

I have semi-longish hair and blow dry almost every other day. It’s a known fact blow drying actually distresses and damages hair so doing it sparingly is key, but if you can’t avoid the heat, the Remington Shine Therapy Dryer may just be the ticket to healthier, shinier hair.

We Like Big Red Record Buttons, Flip Mino Review

We Like Big Red Record Buttons, Flip Mino Review

I got my hands on Pure Digital’s latest camcorder, the Flip Mino and came away impressed. It’s a mini version of its bigger brother the Flip Ultra but thankfully quality has not been compromised. In fact quality is up in terms of build and video. At 640×480 pixels per inch, it’s not meant to compete with bigger and more expensive camcorders. This is for those candid moments when spontaneity is required. It’s small, pocketable, and easy to use.
