Wacom graphics tablets have always been in a league of their own. If you are looking for a professional tablet it’s not a question of what brand to buy, only what model. The Intuos range has been a solid choice for many years offering the portability the Cintiq 21 couldn’t. The Cintiq 12WX however created waves on its release as it made the Cintiq 21 technology portable for the 1st time and did so at an impressive price. Here at Yanko we have been reviewing the Cintiq 12WX for over 6 months and have become quite fond of it to say the least.

I saw some generic knock off at my local electronics retailer and decided it was high time to try the real deal first before giving the knock off a chance. Joby was kind enough to answer my request and sent me their wildly popular Gorillapod SLR-ZOOM, the flexi-bendy tripod that gets your camera into more nooks and crannies than you thought possible. Sonoro Audio Cubo Elements clock radio won a Red Dot award for best product design so we just had to review one to see what all the accolades were about. Right off the bat, this is no typical clock radio. In fact, my regular radio tucked its tail in and hid behind the lamp as soon as the Cubo Elements came prancing out of its packaging. Desktop virtualization is a phrase you may be hearing more of sooner than later. The idea of computing in the cloud as opposed to today’s private desktop machines isn’t new but there haven’t been many products to put idea into practice. The Pano Logic designed by Whipsaw Inc. is the first of which I’ve seen blends the beauty of minimalist design with a seamless computing experience made near identical to the computer I’m using now to type this.

If you’ve ever been to a store that caters to mothers and newborns, you were probably overwhelmed at the selection. The number of bottle choices alone are staggering! One of the latest contenders is the accolade laden Adiri Natural Nurser. Designed by Whipsaw Inc. to simulate a mother’s breast and nipple using BPF FREE materials, it’s a baby bottle simplified in design but as it turns out may be better than the generic bottles flooding the market.

However in this day and age, we are seeing more and more unisex items made available that touch both the feminine and masculine side of all of us. I have to be honest here, my man’s wallets, they have always seemed so boring and plain. About a month ago, I had the pleasure of receiving the Rainbow Star Cutey by Lumenworks. I have a major weakness for groovy lighting, especially ones that change colors. This sweet little beast of a light is a smaller version to Lumenworks Rainbow Star light. Its base is made of metal and the transparent acrylic top is the icing on the cake for this little beauty.

I Want Everything in Containers, OXO Pop Review

Okay I need to spread the word. A few months ago the OXO company sent me a bunch of their OXO Pop containers for review. I’ve never been one to store things in containers because I only buy enough of anything for immediate use. But things like cereals, rice, and pasta are bulk items. I’ve been on a container storing binge because the OXO Pop containers actually work. Hey, they won the Red Dot 2008 Product Design Award so there’s way more than meets the eye here.

Don’t Call it a Bean Bag, SumoSac Review

Around this time last year we reviewed the Sumo Omni Lounge. It’s still in the office and despite being subjected to people instinctually wanting to run and “cannonball” on it, it has held up well. We recently had a chance to try out Sumolounge’s new and expanded product line, namely the SumoSac. In short, everything has been vastly improved. Tho the original Sumo Omni used “beads” and retained a beanbag-like consistency, the SumoSac is totally different. It opts for batting. Hit the jump for our review.

One Size Fits All, Herman Miller Embody Review

Over the past decade and a half Herman Miller has firmly established itself “the” company to go to with all your seating needs. The original Aeron Chair came to symbolize the dot com era. Any and everyone had to have one in office to be certified “cool.” The mesh design, fully adjustable design, and 3 sizes to choose from made it one of a kind. Flash forward 15 years and they’re set to do it again with the new Embody chair taking the one size fits all ethos by further improving a number of adjustable features.

Carbon Fiber Purisme Letter Opener Review

Pure luxe, that’s how I’m going to start off this review. Carbon fiber is a favorite material of ours here at Yanko Design as seen in much of branding collateral. Woven carbon set in epoxy -that’s all it is yet quality is dictated by a level of craftsmanship normally reserved for one of a kind products. We got our hands on the Purisme Carbon Fiber Letter Opener by designer Mario Zeppetzauer. It’s an expensive proposition for opening envelopes but one every dapper individual must own. I am smitten.

Great ideas often are simple executions. The Perfect Perch by James Chu is one of those ideas. Originally conceived as affordable seating for college students, the Perfect Perch has grown to become so much more. After the initial reaction of realizing “it’s just cardboard,” it’s become quite useful in the most unexpected situations.
