Reliable Kit

Reliable Kit

The spate of natural disasters last year gave rise to many concepts and ideas that tries to make life for the survivors a tad bit easier, until they get rehabilitated and settled. One such attempt is the Rely foldout-sleeping domain. The kit includes a compact sleeping bag with components a versatile stool that turns into a place to hold your water and supplies. It even includes a basic night lamp; overall I think it’s a very clever kit.

Wheels Of the Cycle Give Me Power…

Wheels Of the Cycle Give Me Power…

Power to juice up my gadgets, power to spike up my laptop! The idea behind re:energy concept is this: you ride the cycle and the wheels function as a generator to convert kinetic energy to power, and store the juice. When you run out of battery for your gadgets, recharge them by hooking them up to this unique cycle. A very do-able idea so you tech-specialists should have fun talking about this…on similar lines, we do have a pedal-driven washing machine invented!

PET Bottles To The Oil Spill Rescue

PET Bottles To The Oil Spill Rescue

A Picture Perfect photo of Barack Obama swimming with his daughter in Florida is not the answer to oil spills! It takes more than that to contain the damage and get the affected areas back to their feet. A moment of thought goes out to the Oil Fence here, which is made from recycled PET Plastic bottles, fitted with special rubber caps on both ends. The logic is to reuse the trashed bottles for a greater good like containing spills without adding burden to the environment. The color scheme of orange and yellow, sure makes it look bright and cheery against the black slick of oil!

Lights By The Morning Dew

Lights By The Morning Dew

I am by no means a rugged person. I don’t particularly enjoy being “outdoorsy”. I’m the kind of person that overpacks and overcompensates for all possible scenarios, one of which is getting lost. The Dewlighting (should be called Dew Light) is designed for such a scenario. You can use it as a battery powered torch light or hang it to provide ambient lighting. When hung, a flexible sack can be unfurled to collect water droplets. I like the idea although this relies on only getting lost in a humid area.

Coffee Cup Carry

Coffee Cup Carry

You don’t need to come up with something complicated to resolve a simple issue. The goal here is to cut paper consumption when we use disposable paper cartons for beverage take-aways. How do we achieve it; simply redesign the take-away sleeve. For example the “One Plus One” is a coffee cup sleeve that comes with a hooked extension, entwine it with another sleeve and you’re good to carry two cups at a time. It may get a bit tricky to carry more than 2 cups at a time, stacking up 4 seems too risky.

Hang Me On A Stylish Hanger

Hang Me On A Stylish Hanger

The only variations I have seen on a hanger so far are the wood, plastic and metal ones. Oh not to forget the kiddies’ delights that fleece us in the name of branding. The hotel variety that comes with clips ensures that you don’t snitch any, but basically there’s little innovation done in the hanger-world. That’s till you get a load of the Stylish Hangers by Iota Designs. They look pretty and compliment those expensive suits that you own. USP is the expandable orange rubber ring, which is designed to create stability and the use of superior quality raw material.

Need a Solution? Ask Nature

Need a Solution? Ask Nature

It’s true, whatever problem you’re working on – nature probably already solved it thru billions of years of “trial & error.” Need a way to stop calcification in water pipes? Look at clams. They’re totally made of calcium yet they somehow control their own calcium build up. Ever wonder why plants have an uncanny ability to stay clean? Maybe their solution can be applied to our buildings and cleaning agents
