I really appreciate that I live in a city where people would rather ride their bike, roller-blade, or skateboard than drive a car… but I can’t even begin to count how many times I’ve seen people almost get run over! Especially at night. Sure bikes have lights and reflectors but what about skateboards and longboards? Introducing the HAL longboard light…

These original asymmetrical boards are undeniably awesome in both aesthetic & functionality. The limited series of regular & goofy-footed boards are made of foam & fiberglass & each is painted with bold color-blocking complimented by a super shiny high-gloss finish. As for the shape- designer Rick Malwitz explains, “surfing backside typically feels stiffer than frontside, but the smaller turning radius on the ‘short’ side of the board helps the backside ride just as well as the front. It’s a great feature to the shape.”

When it comes to mountaineering, a good ice axe can mean the difference between life and death. Noticing technical setbacks and an overall lack of comfort of current axes, designer Katrina Epperson developed the Condor to be more ergonomic and easy to use. Its curved shaft allows the whole hand to grip the axe in a natural position. An injection molded rubber head provides additional comfort and protects hands from the cold, hard steel. All it’s missing is the mountain!

The Amulet Helmet by designers Kim Jungwoo & Kim Yoonsang takes influence from the Sun Ja Mun pattern, a traditional Korean symbol that you’ve probably seen before. It represents love, living, & luck. Whether it will bring you any of those things or not, there’s no denying that it’s one cool looking piece of headgear.

With construction scheduled at the turn of 2013/2014, Skipark 360°, by the Swedish branch of C. F. Møller Architects, Berg Arkitektkontorthe, will be the world’s most complete indoor ski park with a 700 meter downhill slope, making it the only indoor ski slope in the world to meet the requirements for hosting the World Cup. Located in a forest just outside Stockholm, the 135 meter structure is sure to become a landmark as one of Sweden’s largest buildings.

I love a wild-inspired design, especially when its influence is so obvious. The BMW Ghost is a glimpse into what the next generation of motorcycles will look like, and it goes without saying that animate-aesthetics are already starting to trend especially when it comes to vehicles and bikes (love it). Don’t let the gentle snowy white with blue detailing fool you- there’s a 1600 cc, 6 cylinder engine wrapped in that complex body. I’d name mine Hedwig.

This electric bicycle concept is out of this world! The INgSOC, by designers Edward Kim and Benny Cemoli, combines the aerodynamic shapes of triathlon designs, flexible handling of traditional bikes, and advanced hybrid power technology into one super-efficient commuting machine that (to say the least) looks, well… unearthly!

The Montaurus is a gondola lift system designed specifically for getting to and from remote areas with large amounts of cargo and passengers (up to 6 tons!) a cinch. The cabin has been designed to allow both front and back loading/unloading making for easy entrance and exit. Integrated folding furniture and a hide-away Hytrel carpet wall, used to separate passenger from cargo, make for a more comfortable journey so riders can sit back and appreciate the view.

The latest collection from designer Emily Gunning, MonsterMake, MetaMorphasuit, and Mothershape, aims to discourage obsolescence and maintain their appeal to the child over a prolonged period of time. The designer’s research found that children are more likely to maintain satisfaction with their toys if they have some level of control over what that toy becomes. This encourages them to keep the product longer while helping them tap into their innate affinity for using their imagination.

Designer Arash Karimi’s Audi bike is a near perfect fit for the future urban consumer. As the usability of cars within inner cities diminishes and green attitudes become the standard, this electric concept provides a serious glimpse into the future of green transportation with global brand cachet. The bike’s robust frame and minimal styling have all the sophistication you’d expect from a premium automaker. Just be careful not to slide too far forward- ouch!!

With young students and professionals in mind, the Float compact folding solar catamaran was designed to be an affordable, portable weekend water vessel. The craft is powered via the retractable solar cell roof that can be adjusted for maximum sun exposure or as a sun screen. Users steer the catamaran with a simple gyroscopic handle while they lean back and enjoy a comfy mesh hammock designed to recreate the feeling of lying on the sand. Best of all, the craft collapses to fit into a standard rooftop car carrier.

Inspired by the form of the wake it creates, the 77 foot, 40 ton Speedline yacht has all the Italian refinement and style you’d expect from a designer with a name like Pietro Russomanno. The reverse bow’s sinuous curves form ridges that hug the rear superstructure while a continuous strip of glass wraps elegantly around the main cabin, illuminating the 8 bunks and other facilities of the interior. Minimal styling in pure white and wood enhance its overall beauty inside and out.

The VT36, is geared towards business professionals looking for a unique transportation alternative to the gridlocked streets of seaside cities like New York, Singapore, Shangai, and Dubai. The bullet shaped 36′ long speed yacht aims to provide a quick link between marina systems & business districts while providing simple comfort to passengers. Swivel seats can be adjusted for face-to-face meetings on the run, or positioned forward for windblown wake up call before the A.M. shift.
