Skiing Just Got Smarter

Skiing Just Got Smarter

Kiing is the first activity tracker designed specifically for skiers. Placed at the front and back of the skis, the system uses GPS, an accelerometer, and other sensors to monitor velocity, turns, and other data which are transmitted via Bluetooth to a wrist-worn device for interpretation. With this information, skiers can not only hone their skills but compete with friends and other skiers via social media sharing!

The nCycle is Here

The nCycle is Here

Featured on Yanko earlier this year, we’re excited to announce that the revolutionary nCycle has move to a prototype phase… which means one step closer to you! Conceived as the ultimate expression of automotive beauty for e-bikes, the nCycle incorporates only the very essence of the vehicle itself and discards all the superfluous elements. The result of this approach is a single, continuously flowing frame which simultaneously outlines and defines the e-bike as a viable next generation vehicle.

The LEGO Maniac Must-Have

The LEGO Maniac Must-Have

I soooooo wish I had this when I was a kid! It’s called Cubie and it’s THE best way to tote around everyone’s favorite connecting toy… LEGOS! The design takes the classic green LEGO baseplates, adds zippers, and VOILA! You’ve not only got storage for your pieces, but also a “mound” for building horizontally, vertically, or both! Better yet, you can unzip it to create a larger flat, zig-zag surface for larger scale creations. If only I were a kid again!

Bodacious Bourbon Barrel Boarding

Bodacious Bourbon Barrel Boarding

The Bourbon Barrel Board is as simple as it sounds: a skateboard made from reclaimed bourbon barrels! The use of this upcycled material makes them not only eco-friendly but stylish, described by the designers as “skateable fashion.” In two distinct styles, Flip and Jive, you can cruise or freestyle with comfort and confidence thanks to the natural curvature that gives each an ideal center of gravity. They’re as smooth and strong as the bourbon that came before them! See em’ in action —>

Scooter Plus Bike Equals Scoobi!

Scooter Plus Bike Equals Scoobi!

Scoobi is the all-in-one scooter, bike and trike for training tots to ride and scoot! The design features a variable wheelbase so little ones can start out on a 3-wheeled trike before using their new skills on a more difficult setting. When they’re ready, the two rear wheels merge into one to transform into a true bicycle. Better yet, a removable seat allows for easy transition between scooter and bike depending on the rider’s preference!

In Your Face Lap Times!

In Your Face Lap Times!

Rather than using expensive, sensitive, hi-tech hardware (like a head-up display or mini lens-projector), Jun Yin’s Viewpace goggles offer a simple extension of a timer for swimmers to track their lap times. The extension is slim and lightweight yet rigid enough to stay intact during rigorous underwater movement. While there is a level of resistance it creates in relation to hydrodynamics, this is negligible compared to the current method of stopping entirely to check a stopwatch located at the edge of the pool!

Transitional Training Bike

Transitional Training Bike

Just like clothes and shoes, the average children’s bike must be replaced as little ones get bigger, but Miilo is a training cycle that grows up with the kid that rides it! After they’ve mastered the basics and grown taller, simply disassemble the frame and flip it upside down to create a more suitable ride for their new skills and size. The other essential components are also extendable, making it easy to convert from a tike-size trainer to single-gear in a flash. Better yet, kids will have more confidence riding the “same” bike they’ve been accustomed to!

ATV Awesomeness

ATV Awesomeness

We usually consider ATV’s to be testosterone-fueled tuff stuff, and this quad is no exception, but you might find its aesthetic inspiration surprisingly soft! The Shiva was designed with… wait for it… seriously, take a breath… DANCING in mind! And not just any dancing, but ribbon dancing. Before you start giggling, check out its fierce fairings, aggressive aerodynamic shape and sporty paint job. It might come from a tender place, but the result is a mean-looking modern machine.

Out of This World Fixie

Out of This World Fixie

As you might have guessed from the name, the Space Roam fixed gear bike looks to the universe for inspiration to break away from predictable design. Like liquid metal, the ultra-streamlined frame achieves an almost monocoque aesthetic with the only visible break being that of the front wheel. Built for speed, it’s so lightweight you’ll feel like you’re riding the moon!

Ultra-lux Powerboat

Ultra-lux Powerboat

This sporty yet sophisticated luxury powerboat concept takes inspiration from its land-bound cousin, the super sports car. Aside from its flared fender-like frame, the highlight of the auto-inspired design is a cockpit fit with racing-style bucket seats, a center console, proper dash and creature comforts like climate control. Though the interior is more akin to a Fisker Karma than a fishing boat, the design is contrasted with classic nautical features like its beautiful slatted, wraparound deck. DO WANT!

A Sub for the Masses

A Sub for the Masses

We’ve gone to the moon and even sent probes to Mars, but it’s mind boggling to think that we’ve only managed to explore 10% of our own vast oceans! This is in part because the deep sea has been limited to scientists and research groups. The Manatee submersible concept vehicle was designed to give the rest of us a chance to do a little exploring of our own. More about recreation than scientific discovery, the interior is roomy and comfortable for a relaxing experience. A simple user interface, joystick controls and touch screen controls ensure anyone can get the hang of it.

Sailing on Ice

Sailing on Ice

The Kaira ice boat is a system of functional frames joined together to work like a sailboat, only it relies on wind-power only to skate along the ice. A steel stave runs the length of the boat and supports the mast and a runner-plank on which it rests at right angles to form a kite-shape for stretching the canvas. It runs on three steel skates attached at the edges. A single driver manipulates the canvas with a rope netting to increase or decrease speed between an amazing 30 and 100 mph!

Amazing Inflatable Tents!

Amazing Inflatable Tents!

Campers know that to find the right tent it’s gotta be sturdy, reliable, lightweight, highly durable, thoughtfully shaped for strength and should feel just right. Well, look no further because here are not 1… not 2… but 3! They’re based on a specific molecular structure called “diamond grid’ made of air beams built with a resistant double-layer construction and extra airtight thermoplastic urethane bladder that keeps air inside for a long time. Introducing, The Cave, The Wedge and Mavericks. My fave: the Cave! Check em’ out!
