Non-Destructive Head Phones

Love the name of this concept and totally relate to it as well. The personal side of the story is that both my brother and I managed to ruin our hearing thanks to blasting music through our earphones (parental advice IS ignored by teens). Hence the Non-Destructive Head Phones aims at keeping your eardrums safe, minimize bacterial infection and still allow you to enjoy your music on the go. The only flipside is that you will be aware of secondary noises like maybe a honking car. Then again, in the long run it can work out to your advantage…maybe catch up on some street gossip!

If Pro and Air had a Baby!

Given that they really need something bigger than Siri to captivate us, Apple rumors of a fusion version of the Macbook Pro and the Air are gaining wind at great speed. If Creative Soul Jørgen Langevad had his way, then this new Apple MacBook will be the way Job’s legacy will continue. To make the marriage work, Langevad has changed the harddrive to a flash based SSD and completely removed the optical drive. An OLED Display or a LG Shuriken is suggested, plus Quadcore processors being the trend, Intel’s next gen offering Ivy Bridge will be the perfect fit.

No More Nukes!

No More Nukes!

Surprisingly, this isn’t the first mushroom cloud lamp design that I’ve seen before. (Great minds really do think alike.) But I like this one equally for its softer nature and unique inspiration. Though ominous at first glance, the Mushroom Lamp 2 is a representation of the world’s existing 23,000 nuclear weapons (said to be capable of annihilating the earth several times over) and a reminder that peace is the wisest policy.

Well Balanced Yacht

This 60 meter megayacht by Van Geest Design is characterized by near-perfect balance and creative contrast. The two-toned hull color blocks silver and charcoal to create a distinctive look with graphic lines and three dimensional shapes that direct the eyes toward the stern. Impeccable symmetry can be found from aft to bow and even in the staggered decks and lounge areas.

Invisible Fans

Exhaust fans in bathrooms are a necessary evil that many interior designers struggle with. There is a way to make them invisible and completely disappear when not in use. Venti appears to be a regular tile on the outside, but is in fact a fan! Simply pop it open when you need it. Intuitive and functional is what I like to call it.

Plant Monitor for 2015

A time will soon come when baby monitors will be out of fashion and be replaced with ones for plants. In preparations designer Hyun Seok Kang has devised the Monologue. Just like any gadget that keeps tabs on babies, this one too relays info like temperature, soil condition, moisture levels and the basic mood of the plant. Is it healthy, happy or sad! The thang is voice activated and essentially keeps guiding you on how to be a better mommy plant. Love it!

The Bugatti Super-Sedan

The Super-Sedan may seem contrary to the signature offerings of the Veyron, but following the trend of other sportscar makers is this stylish executive saloon design. Though considered a full-size luxury vehicle, the Super-Sedan is still loaded with the same raw performance and modern texhnological amenities you’d expect from Bugatti (and the pricetag!). Even the purist should be able to appreciate this attempt to broaden the brand’s appeal beyond that of hardcore fans.

The first release in HJC Design’s new line of kitchenware is this elegantly crafted coffee machine, Peel. Inspired by the drip of flowing coffee, the stainless steel base plate simulates ripples and helps guide the user’s mug to the proper location.  Satin matte-black body construction, LED accents, and a straightforward user interface simply leave little to be desired.

Syringe for Safe Injection

The One Time Injection Needle aims to help prevent accidental and intentional misuse, both of which contribute to the spread of disease such as HIV And Hepatitis C. In this design, the safety cap must be pulled back to insert the needle. Once retracted, the cap will stay in place to indicate prior use. Additionally, liquid-activated letters read “USED” once in contact with blood or another fluid.

Electromagnetic Propulsion Bikes

The Pandur 2L and Modelul Le aren’t quite motorcycles but we can’t call them “two-wheelers” either. In fact, “two-ballers” would be a more appropriate name. The vehicles are based on an electromagnetic propulsion system that involves the movement of a sphere inside a shell and suspension given by the electric field between the body and each sphere. Contact is only found between rider and vehicle body as well as the spherical rubber exterior and road.
