Lady Gaga, This One Is Because Of You

Lady Gaga, This One Is Because Of You

If you have a bone to pick with regards to the designing of the Hydra Piano, you better fight Lady Gaga then. Apostol Tnokovski was enjoying one of her performances on the telly, when he realized that the old, boxy piano was a misfit on her stage! Aghast, he took to the drawing board and came up with this unique, some-what flowing concept that looks stunning in pure glossy white or black. To make matters complicated, the inspiration also comes from the mythological sea monster “Hydra”. Wonder who would perform better on stage shows…monster Hydra Lady Gaga or the piano!

Jazzing Up The Indian Piano

Jazzing Up The Indian Piano

Those of you who follow Indian music will know that the Harmonium plays a very integral part in Bollywood music compositions. The instrument per-se may not be used in the songs but when the movie director, music composer, singers and the hero of the movie, sit for “music sessions”, they rely on this instrument for composing the melody. Designers Amandeep Singh gives this dowdy wind instrument a fresh lease of life, by making it look as good as any swanky Yamaha piano!

That's No Record Player

That’s No Record Player

That’s a “Playlist Player,” made by designer Martin Skelly to bring the digital back to the roots of the tree, the vinyl record. I’m not going to sit here and tell you how much better vinyl sounds than other music, or how much more awesome records are than anything else. You already know that! What Martin Skelly is here to tell you is – listen to your music start to finish, in a record player setting, with the ability to spill beer on it. That is the gosh-honest truth, for real!

Enhancing ESP With Music Just To Relax

Enhancing ESP With Music Just To Relax

What the Visual Music Device tries to do is extract useful song information, like rhythm, tempo and beats and converts it to fascinating visual representations, in a bid to soothe and relax you. More for a meditative mind or those into yoga or something! The visual aid features drops of water (kinda like the lava lamp) that float up and down the tank in sync with the music being played on hand. Wonder if it will have a hypnotic effect as well!

Floored By The Sonic Emotional Pulse Of Music

Floored By The Sonic Emotional Pulse Of Music

What do we have for our audiophiles today? A glorious, sleek and majestic player called the Sonic Emotional Pulse Of Music designers by Chen Guoheng. Going by the norm of transparent covers showcasing the disk spinning fast, this one goes a step ahead and partially exposes the spinning disk. Fiber optic cables are used to hook this baby up, with shimmy blue LEDs emitting a soft glow right below the speakers. The highlight of course is the equalizer waves that move in sync with the beat of the music.

Sit on Sound

Sit on Sound

Available in your choice of a fabulous aluminum and brushed metal or GUNMETAL. Yes, you too can sit on sound. It’s the “Sound Lounge” from Sony! Actually a concept from non other than designer Sharifah Nasser, the sound blaster! This is a coffee table that is also a sound system. Depending on the house you’re in, they might not want you sitting upon it. Then again, you could happen upon it in the lobby or a record company, where they let you do whatever you like, just don’t steal the magazines.

Replicating Guitar Reality

Replicating Guitar Reality

I would like, if I may, to take you… on a strange journey. Actually on a weird, wild, perhaps futuristic guitar trip. What we’re dealing with here is an electric guitar that the designer reports has all the pros of electric sound with none of the downsides of a non-analog. Pickups and frets with digital imputs which work on a MIDI-signal that’s adaptable to replicate any guitar and amp setup. And what’s weird about that? No strings – but your fingers wont believe it.
